Acer Aspire One D150 Review

For $349, the 10.1-inch Aspire One AOD150 is an excellent value. It offers a slim and stylish design, good performance, and 6 hours of endurance on a charge. While the similarly configured ASUS Eee PC 1000HE ($399) and Samsung NC10 ($449) have better...

Although the unit lacks the speed seen in other dual-core systems, it is one of the best notebooks available for under $1000. If you are on a tight budget, this unit should be high on the must-see list.

Excellent value for money, good built-in webcam, wide variety of connectivity

Lacks processing speed, ergonomic keyboard design takes getting used to, plain design

Acer Extensa 5620 notebook

Bargain basement or bit of a steal?

The Acer Extensa 5620 won't blow you away in the style or performance stakes, but for less than £400 (inc. VAT) it's good enough for every day tasks, especially if your needs are basic, but don't consider it if you're looking for a multimedia machine.

Uniquely valuable set of features, terrific value

A friend of mine bought this model with Win7 32-bit Professional in late Feb. 2010. He won't be posting any reviews of his new machine, so I'll have to do it for him. This isn't a complete review, but I want to highlight some of its salient (... Expand...

Value per dollar ; WIn7 Professional instead of lesser versions ; Runs Win XP mode ; PCMCIA type II interface ; Expresscard interface ; eSATA interface, makes it very easy to backup or image the laptop's hard disk drive ; 3 GB RAM already installed

Power jack is (apparently) soldered to the mother board, a critical but all too common design flaw ; 32-bit version of Win7 Pro is installed. This means that the machine cannot recognize 4 GB of RAM ; Too-sensitive touch pad
