Acer Aspire 1642WLMi review

A cheap but surprisingly powerful laptop

Super-TFT screen

Low-powered integrated graphics

A stylish, strong-performing laptop for a barely believable price

Best Bang For your Acer Buck

Great Entry-Mid Level Laptop. You'll be hard pressed to find a laptop with the same Specs and Quailty of this beatiful Acer Aspire laptop

Big Beatiful Screen, Well Built.. When you pick it up and just normal handling you can definatly tell a differnce in quality, Big enough for entertainment, but small enough for travel. Fast Ram

Integrated Graphics, Wifi spotty, but thats how it's gonna be with most centrino wireless

Excellent value

Excellent value for money ; Have had no trouble getting laptop going, nor any conflicts with any software

It's pretty big - nice to have the big screen, but it's a pain to carry around

Acer Aspire AS1642ZWLMi NoteBook Intel Pentium M 735(1.70GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 512MB Memory DDR2 533 80GB HDD DVD±R/RW Intel GMA900

This computer has the power needed to run most applications and connects easily to 802.11b and 802.11g networks, also provides RJ45 and RJ11 ports for ethernet and modem connections when wireless is not available. The case looks nice and the display...

Good speed and connectivity for a tight budget ; Acer software makes up for Windows XP Home Edition lack of security ; DVD burner works great for backups ; Ready for next generation operating system ; Easy access for memory and hard drive upgrades

battery life under 2 hours work time. over a week in stand-by ; lacks firewire port

Look elsewhere

Laptop arrived out of the box with a dead DVD-RW drive. Sent it back, after a few weeks the screen developed large cracks near the hinges. Now I'm sending it back because the battery barely lasts 50 minutes. In order to make your battery useful at...

Beautiful screen, lightweight, DVD burner, runs pretty cool compared to my old Athlon XP64-M laptop

Pathetic battery life, sent it back 3 times for repair so far, inconvenient port placement

Acer Aspire 1640 Intel Pentium M Notebook

If you are a college student and need a good laptop then this is the perfect computer for you. Even if your a buisnessman or woman and you need something for your office, it would be great.

This computer is Awesome!! It is extremly fast. It downloads programs and software quicker than any other computer I have ever seen. It has great wireless and LAN internet capabilities. Newegg does a great job in selling this computer. It is definatly...

The only bad thing about it is that I had trouble connecting to the internet with the modem, but then again when you have wireless, or a LAN whats the use of a modem

Very good laptop for the $$$

Overall, if you want something that can do just about everything except play the latest games and that doesnt cost a lot of muns, I'd go with this.

Crisp, clear 15.4 screen is the first thing I noticed. Runs everything but games with ease, but thats due to the integrated graphics :( Powerful Wireless Net Card, and great software for almost everything

Buy a better battery for this hog. The CPU drains it fairly fast. The speakers were another dissapointment, I found that they werent nearly as loud and clear as my previous laptop

Decent Notebook, but not for gamers or road warriors

I bought it as a birthday gift for my father. It is the cheapest Pentium M notebook I can find. I am also pleasantly surprised to find the hard drive is a 5400 rpm instead of 4200. Boots fast for a notebook. The soft casing and low battery life makes...

Bright screen; 5400rpm HDD; 8x DVD writer; Good WIFI range;Relatively light; Runs quiet

2 hour battery life; Soft cheasy casing; lower than average responsive keyborad; Bad positioning of the WIFI enable/disabe button
