Acer Aspire 1825PTZ-413G25n

Does the Acer Aspire 1825 offer the best of tablets and notebooks?

Sharp, responsive touchscreen; Good touch-based software; Excellent battery life; Light and compact; Well-sized, intuitive keyboard

No optical drive; Reflective display; Difficult to use one-handed; Limited performance; Lacks iPad's apps library

This beats the majority of laptops, and even most netbooks currently on the market, making Acer's tablet transformer one of the most portable machines we've seen in a while

Acer Aspire 1825PTZ

This 11.6in convertible tablet laptop has a faster processor than its Packard Bell counterpart.

On the other hand, we definitely prefer the Packard Bell's softer, textured palm-rests to the hard, smooth plastic ones found here. On balance, however, we would say Acer wins out slightly in the looks department, though there's very little in it really.

Acer Aspire 1825PT review

The configuration of the Acer Aspire 1825PT that we reviewed is a good laptop, but the rotating touchscreen won't revolutionise the way you use it. Don't be fooled by its gimmicks -- it's a two-trick pony, but it's only good at one of them

Chassis is fairly light for a convertible tablet PC ; Great keyboard

The touchscreen doesn't particularly lend itself to a Windows operating system ; Mediocre performance

Conclusion The Acer Aspire 1825PTZ is a very good laptop and a mediocre tablet PC. Its folding touchscreen can come in handy in some situations -- for watching movies on a plane, for example -- but, if you want a tablet that's as enjoyable to use as...

Please Touch Me : Acer Aspire 1825PTZ

Turn me, twist me, flip me over could well be the theme tune from a new addition to Acer's Aspire series.

Running around the edges of the unit are input options that include VGA port, DC-in jack, HDMI, three USB 2.0 ports, mullti-card reader, headphone/speaker socket and an Ethernet port. The power switch is also located on the edge rather than the more...

Acer - Aspire 1825PT

With Apple making a big song and dance about its new iPad, laptop manufacturers will no doubt be hoping it will provoke a surge in popularity for the much maligned tablet PC. And while the iPad ...

The Aspire 1825PT benefits from decent battery life and an ultra-stylish design. However, although it's always nice to be able to show off by prodding at the screen, the fact is it really doesn't offer much in terms of a boost in usability. It's also...

Acer Aspire 1825PTZ review: Speed and performance

The Acer Aspire 1825PTZ is a portable computer that aims to marry laptop design with tablet usability. While it doesn't cut it as a perfect tablet (Check out our portable power review to find out why), what's it like as a laptop? Read on and we'll tell...

Long battery life, capable all-rounder

Uninspiring, slow if you crank up your requirements

A capable machine that fails to stand out from the crowd

Acer Aspire 1825PT review

A stylish laptop that converts quickly into a tablet

Reasonably light; good battery life; attractive design; laptop and tablet functionality

Display doesn't cope well outdoors; screen hinge could be tighter; slow processor

The Aspire 1825PT is an attractive piece of kit, but it has a number of issues that hold it back. Many prospective buyers will also be disappointed at the lack of a stylus, which is something all touch-based laptops should come with.

Acer Aspire 1825PTZ

The tablet PC concept never proved the runaway hit that Microsoft might have hoped for, but that hasn't stopped plucky manufacturers trying their best to help touch-powered portables hit the big time. Acer's latest proves a little more appealing than...

Acer Aspire 1825PTZ review

An ultraportable tablet PC with great battery life, but it falls short of perfection.

Twirl the screen into tablet mode and Internet Explorer 8 puts the web at your fingertips. Tap a text box and a shortcut to the onscreen keyboard instantly pops up, pinching gestures allow you to zoom in and out, and flicking a finger left or right...
