Acer Aspire 5551G-4591 15.6-in AMD Turion II Notebook Review

I love small laptops as much as the next guy. The reality of laptops, however, is that most people don't end up buying cool, slim systems. Instead they buy larger laptops with 15.6” displays. Although large and somewhat clunky, these laptops offer a...

Acer Aspire 5551 review

The Acer Aspire 5551 is an attractive laptop that's comfortable to use, but it's not especially fast and the screen is average.

Good qaulity

Got on sale for under $400, well worth the price. Even worth the price at $100 more. The keyboard is wider than all other laptops I've used. After just a day of using this, I got used to keyboard, but I make a LOT of typos switching between laptops. ...

Web cam, bright screen, longer battery life. Windows 7 is better than Vista and computer runs faster and smoother. No need to upgrade

No mic. Poor location for power cord and UBS ports, they get in the way, A LOT

One Step Up

Has everything my sister is ever going to need to play Farmville and do video chat. Even has some features she may get around to using later, such as putting the card reader or HDMI out to good use. Other than the graphics card, stands pretty...

The cheapest option that offers all the one-step-up's from bargain basement cheap. Graphics card half way between typical Integrated and low-end Dedicated. A Dual-Core processor that wasn't designed purely for Netbook use. DDR3 instead of DDR2, and 4...

I didn't go through Newegg this time, shipping turned into a bit of a pain ; The poor speakers have already been touched on by others ; Plenty of bloatware to deal with if re-installing W7 isn't an option. Shame it doesn't come with the discs ; For...

after swapping out the stock hdd and having a fresh install of windows 7 i am very pleased with the performance of this laptop. highly recommended.

swapped out the 5400rpm hdd with a 7200rpm equivalent and its noticeably faster loading windows and various applications. also reinstalled windows 7 home premium to get rid of all the bloatware and start clean (great thing to do if you know how). very...

no bluetooth, and loaded with bloatware.....but for $400 you can't complain

Excellent laptop at a great price

Excellent value for the money. I was lucky enough to find this one when it was on sale for $400, with free shipping. Setting it up on my wireless network was a breeze. Very bright screen and plays DVDs with decent quality. Touch pad is very accurate

As others have noted, the speakers won't blow anyone away. But this is a minor point for me. I've been happy with everything else

Best Laptop for it's price

The Acer Aspire AS5551-2450 is a fantastic low budget laptop, and I highly recommend it to anyone who isunsure about which laptop near 500 dollar price range to get. Now if only I can keep from hitting the touch pad xD

I got it on sale and it's great, good power for what it is, great screen quality, games like freelancer work perfectly fine, even runs Earth Eternal with all graphics on except AA with very little slowdown. In fact the only game I've tried on this...

The keyboard is a bit awkward at first due to it's button style and left-set base due to the awfully great to have number pad. Once used to it the keyboard isn't a problem though. Other than that the speakers aren't the highest quality, but the...
