Review Acer Aspire 5551G Notebook

Without airs and graces. 15.6" mainstream notebooks at attractive

Appealing design; Impressive touchpad; Relatively compact dimensions; Acceptable system noise levels

Weak gaming performance; Very warm under load; Meagre equippment; Awkward arangement of connections; Display (contrast, black level and viewing angles)

Other multimedia notebooks with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 like the Packard Bell TM87-JO-075GE, the Samsung R525 Eikee NP-R525-JS01DE, the Acer Aspire 5740G-434G32Mn, the Acer Aspire 5741G-334G50Mn, the Sony Vaio VPC-EC1M1E or the Dell Inspiron 17R.

Acer Aspire 5551G-4591 15.6-in AMD Turion II Notebook Review

The Acer Aspire 5551G-4591 doesn't pack any surprises. It is the definition of a mainstream 15.6” laptop, which means that it will probably appeal to many readers. However, the laptop steps into a market that contains fierce competition. Does the Acer...

Great Bang for your Buck!

Great bang for the buck! my first acer computer i have dealt with but i have been using there screens for years and have always been happy! Oh and the click on the mouse pad is a bit noisy but thats just being nit picky and the touch pad is able to...

Great little laptop! Does what my mother wanted and more. Streams full rip of avatar in 1920X1080 form with ease and looks awesome on the screen! (High picture quality) decent battery life. light. supreme build quality! lots of cool features. not as...

The only reak thing that bugs me about this laptop would be that when it goes into sleep mode it makes a weird noise that could get on your nerves but no egg will be lost because i have not called tech support to try and fix it yet. i figure it might...

Broke but awesome

I read in one of the reviews that there was no mic on this laptop. I was happy that i stood corrected after buying it. This laptop comes with a fully capable mic.

the laptop runs some games, runs sc2 on low perfectly. So far i love it. runs everything i need perfectly. and is upgradeable to 8 gigs of RAM, which i probably wont do. Mic is here

my first laptop that arrived had a broken pixel. I had called Acer and asked them about it and they told me that because the dead pixel wasn't in the middle of my screen that the warranty didn't cover it. i was pretty upset, so i gave newegg a call and...

Most Explosion For The Money

Obviously, there are better laptops out there, but for 500 american, you cannot go wrong with this! I don't shop that often, BUT when I do... I newegg.

Price is unreal ; Screen is incredibly vivid. Thankfully no burnt pixels ; Keyboard layout and style is well engineered ; 4GB RAM is great ; Dedicated video card ; Win7 performs great like XP but looks like vista, impressive ; Has webcam - Works pretty...

320GB is too low for me, would have preferred 500GB, but for the price, I will not complain; it is just personal preference ; On the right side of laptop, I would have put CD closer to user, then the USB slots. Not a biggie, again its just 'what I...

Deal of a lifetime

Got this when it was on sale. At the price they were selling it for, this is the best computer hardware purchase I've ever made. Period ; The Radeon 4250 is such a good integrated card that I almost can't believe the performance I'm getting out of it....

I can't think of a single thing wrong with this laptop. At least not at the price I paid for it. Keep your eyes out for the occasional price drop on this thing

Pretty Good

When I got the laptop, I also bought a new hard drive that's 7400rpm for a little bit more performance and so that I didn't have to deal with the bloatware. It really does make a difference. There are plenty of laptop HD's on Newegg that are reasonably...

It's a pretty good laptop. It runs Windows 7 64-bit very nicely. It's able to run Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time without any problems! I wouldn't hold your breathe for gaming though. It won't play any current games, at least at an...

The battery life is pretty pathetic. You seriously can't do anything but surf the net without the battery dieing within an hour or two. Of course there is also bloatware like usual. I bought this laptop on sale for $400. I don't think I'd pay $500 for...

Good qaulity

Got on sale for under $400, well worth the price. Even worth the price at $100 more. The keyboard is wider than all other laptops I've used. After just a day of using this, I got used to keyboard, but I make a LOT of typos switching between laptops. ...

Web cam, bright screen, longer battery life. Windows 7 is better than Vista and computer runs faster and smoother. No need to upgrade

No mic. Poor location for power cord and UBS ports, they get in the way, A LOT

One Step Up

Has everything my sister is ever going to need to play Farmville and do video chat. Even has some features she may get around to using later, such as putting the card reader or HDMI out to good use. Other than the graphics card, stands pretty...

The cheapest option that offers all the one-step-up's from bargain basement cheap. Graphics card half way between typical Integrated and low-end Dedicated. A Dual-Core processor that wasn't designed purely for Netbook use. DDR3 instead of DDR2, and 4...

I didn't go through Newegg this time, shipping turned into a bit of a pain ; The poor speakers have already been touched on by others ; Plenty of bloatware to deal with if re-installing W7 isn't an option. Shame it doesn't come with the discs ; For...
