Review Acer TravelMate 5740G-524G50MN Notebook

Business Gamer. Business laptops usually do not have strong graph

Good 3D performance; Strong processor; Matt display; Quiet during normal use

No ExpressCard, eSATA, or DockingPort; Weak contrast TFT; Poor pressure points of the keyboard; Short battery life; Warm during heavy usage; Poor loudspeaker output quality

Those users who absolutely have to have the ATI HD5650 should pick the Aspire 4820TG Timeline X, the Dell Studio 1749 or the Sony Vaio VPC-EB1S1E/BJ. To get the original "TravelMate" feeling, we would recommend the upcoming TravelMate TimelineX 8572G....

A multimedia laptop with additional features for office use, a good mix of hardware and features.

Review Acer Aspire 5740G Notebook

Jack-Of-All-Trades. In our review, the Aspire 5740G-434G32Mn prov

good price-performance ratio; battery run-time, if not under load; Multi Gesture Touchpad; good Keyboard; rich set of ports and interfaces

integrated loudspeaker; Distribution of ports and interfaces; average screen brightness

The Aspire 5740G has many competitors in the crowded laptop market: the Asus K52JR-SX059V for example. It comes with the same GPU, but the processor is an i3. Or there is the Fire DTX von DevilTech with the much more powerful HD5650.

Acer Aspire 5740G-6979

New laptops based on Intel's Core i5 CPUs are rolling in like a swarm of summer grasshoppers. The Acer Aspire 5740G-6979 all-purpose laptop falls squarely in the conservative middle of these units, stuffing a next-generation Core i5-430M processor and...

Discrete numeric keypad ; Good gaming performance

Poor audio quality ; Keyboard layout not optimal for touch typists

This $750 Acer laptop offers very good performance, but substandard audio and a lack of Bluetooth may limit its appeal.

Acer Aspire 5740G (6979) Review - A Review of the Acer Aspire 5740G (6979)

Comfortable, responsive keyboard, Snappy Core i5 performance, Rich audio playback, Impressive energy efficiency, Affordable price, Excellent Wi-Fi range

Somewhat dull display, Glossy lid picks up fingerprints easily, Single mouse button, Mediocre battery life, Limited tech support hours

During our tests, the 5740G ran slightly warmer than the 5740-6838, most likely due to the inclusion of discrete graphics. After playing a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, the touchpad measured 99 degrees Fahrenheit; the middle of the keyboard...

Acer Aspire 5740-6378

Fulfils a checklist of the most important features ; Good all-around performance

Battery life is little more than three hours ; Trackpad and mouse buttons are poorly designed

Mid-range buyers will be satisfied, but mediocre audio and video performance never aspire beyond that crowd.

Acer Aspire 5740 (6378)

This 15.6-inch notebook offers strong Core i5 performance, a comfortable keyboard, and good audio punch for much less than the competition.

The Acer Aspire 5740-6378 possesses a responsive island-style keyboard, robust speakers, and great performance for a surprisingly low price. Gamers on a budget should opt for the premium 5740G-6395 configuration, which features discrete ATI graphics...

Acer Aspire AS5740-6378

Features aren't outstanding. Although many laptops at this price exclude an HDMI port, the AS5740-6378 includes it, so you'll be able to run an HDMI cable to your HDTV. There are 4 USB ports, Ethernet, an SPDIF (Audio Out) port, a 320GB hard drive, and...

Core i5 processor is speedy. Great for bargain hunters. Numeric keypad included. Big screen. Excellent performance scores. 2-year warranty

Small battery means mediocre battery life. Lackluster design

The Acer Aspire AS5740-6378 is an ideal desktop replacement laptop for performance enthusiasts and penny-pinchers, but gives up on looks and battery life.

High cost-effective, powerful configuration, good heat dissipation, nice performance

Conservative design, a little heavy, which is not suitable for girls ; jQuery(document).ready(function($) {...

Aspire 5740G is an excellent laptop. The new models have bluetooth and I’ve found Aspire outperforming the Dell studio in all aspects. Not to mention Dell is expensive(for no reason). This laptop's gemstone back is very attractive and unique. Dolby...

Acer Aspire 5740-6378

With impressive Core i5 performance, a roomy screen and keyboard, and plenty of features for the price, this Aspire may be the best $750 notebook yet.

Strong productivity-app performance; attractive styling; comfortable keyboard; lots of features for the price

Cheap-feeling mouse button; mediocre speakers; no eSATA port; no dedicated multimedia controls

The Acer Aspire 5740-6378’s Core i5-driven performance makes the unit stand out in the crowded field of budget mainstream notebooks. It isn’t a perfect laptop, but given the speed and features you get for the price, you'll struggle to find much fault...
