Review Acer Aspire 5745PG Notebook

Touch me. Touch is in, not only for tablets. The Aspire 5745PG is

Good input devices; Touchscreen as a gimmick; Quiet and cool; Optimus for automatic graphics switching

Glossy display with low brightness; No eSATA or USB 3.0 port; Interfaces in the front areas

Everything that can provide a fairly strong CPU and graphics in the 15 inch field, so Core i5/GT330M or HD 5650 combinations from all manufacturers.

Acer Aspire 5745PG-3882 Review

Great for movies and audio; strong multithreaded content-creation performance; multitouch display

Disappointing 3D-gaming performance

And what class is that, you might ask? The most accurate way to classify the 5745PG-3882 is as a mainstream multimedia notebook. As long as serious gaming isn’t on your do-list, the 5745PG-3882 will serve you well with media and nearly any application....

Acer Aspire AS5745-7247

Battery life is a concession, but only if you're comparing it with the Acer AS5820T-5951, which comes with a big 62WH battery. The AS5745-7247 uses the same 48WH battery as the Acer AS5741Z (4 hours 20 minutes) and Lenovo Z560 (4:03), but lasted longer...

Bargain price. Fast Core i3 processor. Great battery scores. Whopping 640GB of storage. Lightweight. Excellent user experience

Last year's design

The Acer Aspire AS5745-7247 is one sweet laptop deal, putting in parts and features you don't normally get at these prices.

Great laptop

I bought this laptop and had it shipped to me in 22 hours. You can't beat that amazing service! This is a greatly priced BD laptop.

A laptop running the latest generation of hardware (DDR3, Core i3, Blu Ray drive Wireless N, etc). While it may not be top of the line with a Core i7, it is still not a bad setup. It is perfect for media applications I use and for work and school. Like...

BD drive is a little slow when loading BD movies and like many BD drives, you have to use the supplied software to watch any BD movies ; It also came pre-loaded with bloat ware that you have to take a moment to remove

Excellent notebook

I formatted the HDD and installed Ubuntu on the first day, worked perfectly out of the box. The W7 install contained 3 programs for backup alone and McAfee Internet Security, and that was the good software. All in all a great laptop if you don't mind...

Bang for the buck, Beautiful, Numpad, Keys feel great, Feels solid, and of course the BD Drive

The Windows 7 installation was bloated with horrible software

Incredible i5 with Blu-ray!

The Windows Experience Index for this drive: 4.5 Processor: 6.8 (thanks to the awesome i5) Memory: 5.9 Graphics: 4.5 Gaming: 5.2 Hard Disk: 5.6 (5.7 after upgrading to the 500G) I'm sure the memory rating could be increased by adding faster RAM....

I looked high and low for a laptop to replace my desktop. I didn't want a bulky 17" monitor- which wouldn't be very portable- and I had to have digital audio output and Blu-ray. There are many laptops in the same price range- but none had digital...

Only a 320G drive (which I replaced immediately with a 500G WD AV-25), and graphics card with only 128MB max memory! 256MB should be the absolute minimum- and considering it is using reserved system memory- there is no reason it shouldn't come preset...

Great Machine, no SSDs

I really do like this machine, so I still gave it 4 stars, but that one little flaw in design (come on, NOBODY tried to put a SSD in this before they marketed it?) can mean a big headache to new customers. I bought this and an SSD the same day. (Looks...

This is a well built, absolutly loaded laptop for the price. Battery life is excellent, it's lightweight, and the aspect ratio makes the screen look larger than it actually is. Very nice onboard speakers as well, closest 'surround sound' effect I've...

BEWARE! There is a rubber motherboard support directly beneath the SATA connector, which makes it impossible to install most SSDs and possibly some HDDs as well. This is real, not just a rant. If the drive you want to use has a SATA interface that is...

Great Media PC

As with all new PCs, I'd recommend a program like Driver Genius to make sure that all drivers are up to date (prevents crashes and other errors).

For the price, specs are great ; Blu Ray drive + processor + 1080p hdmi out = perfect playback of blu-ray disks/DVDs/Video files ; Works great as a home theater PC

this is a pretty weak con, but the finish loves fingerprints. yeah, I have OCD

Good laptop, cannot handle SSD

Newegg is great. Fast shipping as usual. Hopefully they'll be understanding when I RMA this SSD.

Lightweight and sleek; nice bright screen; good price for an i5; Blu Ray

Bought a 60GB OCZ SSD and it will not fit in the drive chassis. I'm really disappointed that this PC doesn't support this type of drive. The drive is either too fat or the SATA connector is "shrouded" as one other reviewer stated ; Bloatware - this is...
