Review Acer Aspire 5745PG Notebook

Touch me. Touch is in, not only for tablets. The Aspire 5745PG is a 15 inch multimedia machine with the brand-new Nvidia GeForce GT 420M graphics (Optimus), which also accepts inputs over its display.

Good input devices, Touchscreen as a gimmick, Quiet and cool, Optimus for automatic graphics switching, The latest technology in a notebook - who wouldn't like that

Glossy display with low brightness, No eSATA or USB 3.0 port, Interfaces in the front areas, A fast interface for data transfer

Acer Aspire 5745PG-3882 Review

Great for movies and audio; strong multithreaded content-creation performance; multitouch display

Disappointing 3D-gaming performance

And what class is that, you might ask? The most accurate way to classify the 5745PG-3882 is as a mainstream multimedia notebook. As long as serious gaming isn’t on your do-list, the 5745PG-3882 will serve you well with media and nearly any application....

Acer Aspire 5745DG Review

Overall, 3D notebooks are still a work in progress, and both the software and content have a ways to go before this technology will be more widely adopted. But considering most 3D notebooks that use 120-MHz displays and active shutter glasses cost well...

Integrated, easy-to-use 3D technology, Inexpensive (for a 3D notebook), Strong overall performance

Plain design, Mediocre audio, Limited viewing angles, No Blu-ray option

Acer Aspire AS5745-7247

Battery life is a concession, but only if you're comparing it with the Acer AS5820T-5951, which comes with a big 62WH battery. The AS5745-7247 uses the same 48WH battery as the Acer AS5741Z (4 hours 20 minutes) and Lenovo Z560 (4:03), but lasted longer...

Bargain price. Fast Core i3 processor. Great battery scores. Whopping 640GB of storage. Lightweight. Excellent user experience

Last year's design

The Acer Aspire AS5745-7247 is one sweet laptop deal, putting in parts and features you don't normally get at these prices.

This Aspire delivers solid performance and lets you play games in 3D using Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision technology. It's not the most advanced notebook of its kind, but it's a good choice for trying 3D without breaking the bank.

On-target performance for the price, Discrete graphics chip, 3D-capable screen, Good battery life

Narrow screen viewing angles, Too much bloatware, No native support for 2D-to-3D photo/video conversions, No Blu-ray drive

Acer Aspire 5745PG 5464G32Mn review

Incredible power and Optimus graphical performance from this updated mid-priced laptop

Optimus technology ; Sharp, vibrant screen ; Solid Core i5 performance ; Highly usable ; Bluetooth 3.0

Touch controls pointless ; Reflective display ; Flat keyboard won' t suit all tastes ; Not the most portable laptop

Anyone looking for a family laptop that' ll keep the kids entertained and have enough power to handle even highly demanding software should definitely consider the Acer Aspire 5745PG. Ignore the gimmicky touchscreen and you have a powerful, well-built...

Acer Aspire 5745G

Acer packs this 15.6-inch laptop with an Intel Core i5 processor and switchable Nvidia and Intel graphics.

Good performance, Decent battery life, Switchable graphics, Solid ergonomics

Average build quality, Only 3GB of RAM, Small hard drive

Acer Aspire 5745PG review

By adding a touchscreen, Acer's new 5745PG mid-range laptop tries to combine the versatility of a Windows laptop with the simplicity and immediacy of a tablet. The laptop chassis looks sleek with a textured lid and gunmetal grey wrist rest. Despite the...

Poor software lets down some clever touchscreen technology in an otherwise decent mid-range laptop.
