Acer Aspire 5745DG

This entertainment-focused 3D notebook is inexpensive for what it offers, but leaves us wanting more.

Overall, 3D notebooks are still a work in progress, and both the software and content have a ways to go before this technology will be more widely adopted. But considering most 3D notebooks that use 120-MHz displays and active shutter glasses cost well...

Acer Aspire 5745DG Review

3D, if you believe the marketing hype, is the future of displays, and so with so many of us sitting in front of computer screens for a fair portion of the day, why shouldn't they get in on the action as well? Acer 's Aspire 5745DG promises 3D...

There’s no denying that NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology works, although those who already wear glasses or struggle to remember to charge their phone will likely find the necessary 3D eyewear a frustration. The question we’re left asking is why Acer...

Acer Aspire 5745DG

Does this desktop replacement have the innards to stand up to Acer's claims?

While the Acer's GPU holds it back from being a gaming beast, it's a great everyday app rig that packs usable HD capabilities.

Acer Aspire 5745DG-3855

The Acer Aspire 5745DG-3855 is by no means the first true-3D-capable laptop to hit the market (or our labs), but it is the least expensive one we've seen so far. Priced at $999.99, this 15-inch entertainment notebook is considerably cheaper than...

On-target performance for the price ; Discrete graphics chip ; 3D-capable screen ; Good battery life

Narrow screen viewing angles ; Too much bloatware ; No native support for 2D-to-3D photo/video conversions ; No Blu-ray drive

This Aspire delivers solid performance and lets you play games in 3D using Nvidia’s GeForce 3D Vision technology. It's not the most advanced notebook of its kind, but it's a good choice for trying 3D without breaking the bank.

Acer Aspire 5745DG review

An affordable 3D Vision laptop, but it's clear the technology is still in its infancy

3D Vision ; Battery life ; Powerful graphics ; Decent performance

Not suited to powerful programs ; A bit bulky

Acer Aspire 5745DG

With a 120Hz display and Nvidia's wireless shutter glasses, this affordable 15.6in laptop gives you 3D on the go.

Acer Aspire 5745DG review

The first 3D laptop we've seen, but with a disappointing graphics chipset and no Blu-ray drive, it's hard to see what content you're going to enjoy.

Acer Aspire 5745DG

Packing in nVidia-powered graphics, Acer Aspire 5745DG has an nVidia GeForce 425M chip and up to 16GB of RAM squashed in. The 5745DG comes with a choice of Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 dual-core processor and has a 15.6-inch LED backlit full high-definition...

Acer Aspire 5745DG review

Mid-range multi-media 3D laptop

3D playback on mid-range specifications, quality display, good battery life, keyboard, well-designed

2D to 3D conversion not great, quality settings in games need to be scaled down for smooth 3D, fiddly navigation keys

Acer has been doing the 3D thing since launching its own technology on one of the first stereoscopic laptops at market.
