Acer Aspire 5745DG Review

3D, if you believe the marketing hype, is the future of displays, and so with so many of us sitting in front of computer screens for a fair portion of the day, why shouldn't they get in on the action as well? Acer 's Aspire 5745DG promises 3D...

There’s no denying that NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology works, although those who already wear glasses or struggle to remember to charge their phone will likely find the necessary 3D eyewear a frustration. The question we’re left asking is why Acer...

Acer Aspire 5745DG

Does this desktop replacement have the innards to stand up to Acer's claims?

While the Acer's GPU holds it back from being a gaming beast, it's a great everyday app rig that packs usable HD capabilities.

An affordable 3D Vision laptop, but it's clear the technology is still in its infancy

3D Vision ; Battery life ; Powerful graphics ; Decent performance

Not suited to powerful programs ; A bit bulky

Acer Aspire 5745DG review

The first 3D laptop we've seen, but with a disappointing graphics chipset and no Blu-ray drive, it's hard to see what content you're going to enjoy.

Mid-range multi-media 3D laptop

3D playback on mid-range specifications, quality display, good battery life, keyboard, well-designed

2D to 3D conversion not great, quality settings in games need to be scaled down for smooth 3D, fiddly navigation keys

Acer has been doing the 3D thing since launching its own technology on one of the first stereoscopic laptops at market.

Acer Aspire 5745DG-384G50Mn

Lighter than my 14" HP; great looking graphics; 3D amazing, though tried out only once so far. Battery pack juts down not shown on photo, but though it uncomfortably leaves a sore groove imprint on my lap, does at least provide ventilation. I did not...

Seems to struggle a little with gaming...
