Acer Aspire E1 review

Laptop manufacturers have struggled for years with the notebook's falling average price. Despite the emergence of the Ultrabook, which was specifically designed to tempt users into spending more on their next notebook PC, the average buyer now spends...

Attractive and well-built for the price ; Strong CPU performance ; Decent speakers

Poor 1366x768 display ; Short battery life ; Nvidia GPU isn’t a quick as hoped

The Aspire E1 may be inexpensive, but Acer sacrificed a lot to cram powerful hardware into a laptop that sells below $600.

Acer Aspire E1 review

A budget laptop with some maddening flaws

Affordable ; Attractive design ; Great keyboard ; HDMI-out and 3 USBs

Poor touchpad & button ; Too heavy ; Filled with bloatware ; Mediocre battery life

If you were considering the E1 for a budget buy, ask yourself: are these compromises that you can live with?

Acer Aspire E1 review

Budget laptops rarely set the pulse racing, but the Acer Aspire E1 excites purely by virtue of its price. For a mere £350, this 15.6in laptop touts a Core i3 CPU, 750GB hard disk and all the essential trimmings.

An unshowy 15.6in laptop with good build quality and a great specification for the money – a bona fide bargain
