Acer Aspire E1 review

Laptop manufacturers have struggled for years with the notebook's falling average price. Despite the emergence of the Ultrabook, which was specifically designed to tempt users into spending more on their next notebook PC, the average buyer now spends...

Attractive and well-built for the price ; Strong CPU performance ; Decent speakers

Poor 1366x768 display ; Short battery life ; Nvidia GPU isn’t a quick as hoped

The Aspire E1 may be inexpensive, but Acer sacrificed a lot to cram powerful hardware into a laptop that sells below $600.

Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 review: Simple Win 8 laptop for simple needs

TheAcer Aspire E1-572-6870is an inexpensive fourth-generation Core i5 laptop with a nice keyboard, decent weight for its size, and just enough performance to power you through average daily tasks. It has a removable battery, and the hard drive and RAM...

The display is decidedly average, its touch-pad buttons are a bit of a pain, and despite having a spot for it, this model does not include an optical drive. Given its processor, battery life may be shorter than expected.

As budget-friendly laptops go, the Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 is a good value with sufficient power for basic tasks, and it doesn't look bad, either.

A budget laptop with some maddening flaws

Affordable ; Attractive design ; Great keyboard ; HDMI-out and 3 USBs

Poor touchpad & button ; Too heavy ; Filled with bloatware ; Mediocre battery life

Does 'budget' need to be synonymous with 'compromise'? In this case, unfortunately, yes.

Acer Aspire E1 review

Budget laptops rarely set the pulse racing, but the Acer Aspire E1 excites purely by virtue of its price. For a mere £350, this 15.6in laptop touts a Core i3 CPU, 750GB hard disk and all the essential trimmings. See also: what's the best laptop you can...

An unshowy 15.6in laptop with good build quality and a great specification for the money – a bona fide bargain

"Damn near perfect but the wireless card's a dud"

Most of what is said in the cnet review is the same for my experience. But I am returning it because the wireless card that comes with this computer is either absolute garbage or something with the computer is blocking its signal--I can't be sure what...

Great performance, fast, attractive model, good for multitasking

Windows 8 is underwhelming, couldn't get the wifi signal to work

Acer Aspire E1-570P NX.MFSEK.001

Having a touch screen when running windows 8 is crucial, and the Acer Aspire's touch screen is very responsive and accurate. The touch screen also makes other tasks a pleasure to do. The Aspire E1-572p is very powerful with the i5 processor. Fast sleek...

The only bad point I've found so far is windows 8. The app screen is a good idea like tablets'; overall, 8 is not good. The Aspire E1-572p is too good for windows 8 ; Only has 4Gb memory. i5 on windows 8 should have 6 - 8Gb min

When typing it misses spaces, misses letters, types the wrong letters or suddenly switches to a different page. If it gets a bit confused about a web site it simply will not load it and you have to reboot it to get back onto the internet. e afI have to...
