Acer’s Timeline M3 Review: Laptop Could’ve Been a Contender

The Acer Timeline M3 is a study in polar opposites. Its thin, elegant chassis and superb performance for its class suggest that the M3 might be a true category leader, but an painfully poor LCD panel prevents the Acer from achieving that goal.

Very poor overall display quality

The Timeline M3 could have been a Macbook killer, if not for the poor LCD panel.

Probably not the laptop for you, but that really depends on price

Long battery life; High program performance; Fast graphics card; Optical drive; Touchscreen

Single USB 3.0; Disappointing TN panel; High temperature emissions at full load; Constantly running cooler fan; Workmanship flaws on our test model

Other Ultrabooks with a touchscreen: Asus VivoBook S400CA, HP SpectreXT Touchsmart 15 or Sony Vaio SV-T1511M1E/S. If you do not need a touchscreen, then the Lenovo IdeaPad U510 is an option.

Low-contrast screen; No openings for maintenance

Such good battery life in a notebook under 500 Euros is very rare.

The currently available 13-inch Ultrabooks and the rather light 15"-inch multimedia devices like the expensive MacBook Pro 15 can't compete.
