Acer Aspire Timeline U M3-581TG Review

Many Ultrabooks such as the Asus Zenbook UX31E and Toshiba Portege Z830 command a heavy premium for their super-slim design and powerful configuration. Even those that feature less powerful processors and hard drives instead of SSDs are overpriced for...

What we really liked is the removable panel on the bottom that allows the user to upgrade or replace the hard drive, RAM, Wi-Fi module and mSATA SSD. There’s only a single RAM slot, so you don’t have an option to add a module. It’s recommended to...

Review Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3-581TG Ultrabook

Kepler's Debut. "Ultrabook XL" is one way of describing the Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 as the notebook doesn't exactly check in gracefully in its 15-inch case. However, with the new GeForce GT 640M graphics card, Acer offers a worthwhile treat that...

Very good graphics performance ; Fast SSD and thus very good application performance ; Good battery life thanks to Optimus

Poor display ; Touchpad without dedicated buttons ; Hot under load

How performance has greatly increased in two years on CULV notebooks (e.g. Asus' UL50v with GeForce G210M) of a comparable construction

Acer’s Timeline M3 Review: Laptop Could’ve Been a Contender

The Acer Timeline M3 is a study in polar opposites. Its thin, elegant chassis and superb performance for its class suggest that the M3 might be a true category leader, but an painfully poor LCD panel prevents the Acer from achieving that goal.

Sleek, thin, and elegant looking ; Above-average gaming performance ; Trackpad is overly sensitive

Very poor overall display quality

The Timeline M3 could have been a Macbook killer, if not for the poor LCD panel.

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3

When Acer's Aspire Timeline Ultra notebooks made their first appearance at CES, these 14- and 15-inch laptops seemed like little more than the successors to Acer's TimelineX series. Thin-and-light laptops, complete with optical drive and some likely...

Thin and lightweight ; Great gaming performance ; Super fast boot times

Low-rent build materials ; Shoddy screen ; Lackluster audio capabilities

The Aspire Timeline Ultra delivers great performance in a svelte package, but a low-res display and cheap build materials keep it from being a lust-worthy laptop

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3-581TG review

What is an ultrabook? Intel has a pretty loose definition: as long as your laptop is less than 0.8 inches thin, has five hours of battery life, rapidly wakes from sleep, and has a second-generation Intel Core processor, you're basically part of the...

Potent gaming performance ; Good battery life ; Matte external surfaces ; Full-size ports

Poor ergonomic design ; Materials feel cheap ; Ugly, low-res screen ; Terrible speakers

Probably not the laptop for you, but that really depends on price

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 Review: Kepler's First Laptop

The Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 is a unique laptop. It was the first product on the market to contain a GPU based of Nvidia's new Kepler architecture, beating out not only other laptops but also the desktop video cards. It's also a rare 15.6”...

Acer Aspire M3

There are plenty of home computers out there, and while the Acer Aspire M3 has the second highest processing speed of 3.1 GHz, you may want to take a few other factors into consideration. There are 4GB of RAM, though you can upgrade it at an additional...

This computer has the second highest CPU speed in our comparison at 3.1 GHz

It only has 4GB of RAM but you can always upgrade it for an extra cost

We thought the processing speed was useful but the storage and memory may leave you wanting.

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 - Finding the Right Balance

Acer Aspire Timeline U M3 review

Nvidia has been calling the Acer Timeline U M3 the first true Ultrabook. And they have a good reason - at its heart beats the latest in mobile graphics, the GeForce GT 640M.

Excellent gaming erformance ; Battery life ; Build quality

Poor trackad ; Low resolution screen

Acer Aspire Timeline U M3 581TG

The cheapest game-worthy Ultrabook around thanks to GeForce GT 640M graphics.

Relatively slim and light gaming machine ; Very affordable ; Good battery life ; USB 3.0

Horrible connectivity placement ; Average screen
