Acer Aspire V3-772G-747a8G1.12TWakk Notebook Review

Let's play again. About a year ago we took a look at the Acer Aspire V3-772G and came away impressed with its performance. This time around, we'll examine the latest model in the series and check to see what else is new besides an updated graphics card.

Upscale metal surfaces, Sturdy design, Gigabit LAN, Simple to maintain, High performance, SSD and HDD, Comparatively low temperatures, Pleasant noise level, Matte display, Great WLAN reception

Display torsionally not very rigid, Display bounces a bit, Only two USB 3.0 ports, Noticeable bluish cast, Viewing angle stability isn't great, Sub-par speakers, High power consumption during idle, Battery life not great

Aside from some minor improvements, the new model is not much different from last year's Acer Aspire V3-772G. The display is slightly brighter, the notebook doesn't get quite as warm, and the gaming performance has increased significantly thanks to the...

Review Acer Aspire V3-772G-747A321 Notebook

Haswell rocket. A monster in every respect: 32 GB memory, 1256 GB

Anti-reflective Full-HD display; Very good application performance; Very good 3D performance; Large storage; Maintenance & expansion capabilities; Blu-Ray drive (reader); Comparatively low noise development; Decent sound; Convenient keyboard; Very good...

All ports very far at the front; Bad color fidelity (strong blue cast - requires calibration); 32 GB RAM are exaggerated

32 GB RAM? We really don't know who could use that much memory. But it is still impressive to see that amount of memory.

Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460

The Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460 is a decent 17-inch desktop replacement laptop with plenty of entertainment options, but it has a few issues we didn't expect to see at this price.

Full HD 17-inch display. Blu-ray optical drive. Both SSD and HDD storage

Expensive. No touch screen. So-so performance. Some issues with touchpad gesture support. Lots of bloatware. Short battery life

The Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460 ($1,249.99, as tested) is something we rarely see in the Labs anymore: the 17-inch laptop that isn't built with gaming in mind. The system is too large to fit in with the current ultraportable craze, and the inclusion of an...

Acer Aspire V3-772G-9402 Review

The Acer Aspire V3 is a quality multimedia laptop with a full HD matte screen and pretty good graphics punch.

Gorgeous 1080p display; Powerful speakers; Excellent keyboard; Good graphics performance for the money

Faux metal design; Slow hard drive; Relatively short battery life; Grainy webcam

The Acer Aspire V3 is a quality multimedia laptop with a full HD matte screen and pretty good graphics punch.

Acer Aspire V3 review: "Budget desktop replacement” needn’t be an oxymoron

Yes, you can buy a 17.3-inch Haswell-powered notebook with a discrete GPU for $1100. Just be prepared to make some compromises in features.

Reasonably priced ; Equipped with a discrete graphics processor ; Excellent speakers

Lacks an SSD ; Short battery life ; Relatively low benchmark performance (aside from gaming)

It's not the fastest desktop replacement we've seen, but the Aspire V3 is a very good mobile-entertainment value.

Expert Review

Decent gaming performance for the price, Big, bright matte display, Roomy, comfortable keyboard, Good battery life (for a gaming laptop)

Hard drive is cramped and lacks solid-state cache, Keyboard isn't backlit

But we'd at least like the V3 to ship with a 750GB hard drive. And ideally, we'd like to see a solid-state cache as well, even if it's only 8GB. That feature can go a long way toward making a system feel snappier. As is, unless your budget's truly...

Acer Aspire V3 Review

This is the closest Acer has come to the gaming notebook category. The tentative steps are understandable, but performance figures show that the Aspire V3 is one of the most powerful laptops out there. The only two things going against it are the...

Excellent performance, Potential on the spec sheet translates into actual performance, Could very well be a gaming notebook, Display is brilliant for most usage scenarios, Good keyboard and touchpad

Glossy build throughout, Feels bulky in this day and age

Acer V3-772G-9460

Can hook up 2 monitors to it to give you a three screen experience. One in DVI and on in HDMI. Lighter than my Alienware laptop.

C drive has smaller storage capacity than the second HDD. Had to arrange the User settings to store into the second drive. Still run out of room for programs and Windows updates.

Mine was NOT GOOD

I would not recommend this product

Good Price for a i7-4702MQ and a GTX 760M with a 1080p screen

For what was at the time a Acer Flagship Gaming model computer, the Driver Support from was the worst I've ever delt with. No Drivers were ever made by Acer for Windows 7 and at the time Windows 8 had only been out for maybe 1 year, sounds...
