Acer Travelmate 3002WTCI Laptop

Despite some admirable qualities, including great battery life, the Acer TravelMate 3002WTCi would not be my first ultraportable choice. It's a snazzy-looking little wedge-shaped unit that weighs only 3.2 pounds and costs just $1199 (as of 6/26/2006)....

Light, highly portable design ; Has great battery life

Speakers are poor ; Optical drive is external

The 3002WTCi is nicely designed overall, and hunt-and-peck typists who do mainstream work on the go might be happy with the compact unit. Others looking for a better typing experience in an ultraportable should keep looking

Fully user-upgradeable and comes standard with two batteries, including a high-capacity one that performed well on our tests.

Acer TravelMate 3000 Review

Inexpensive model comes with two batteries, a four-in-one media-card reader, and an external optical drive.

Lightweight and reasonably-priced

Lacks an optical drive

Finally, the TravelMate 3000 is upgradable: Both memory slots and the hard drive are easy to access, though the procedure for reaching the latter is not documented. This led to my removing the wrong set of screws at first. (Tip: You don't want the ones...

Acer TravelMate 3002WTCi

Acer's lightest ultraportable laptop has some unique qualities that make it stand apart from the rest.

Ultralight weight. Good processing power. Attractive price.

Poor battery life with standard battery. Lacks TPM and security software.

Acer Travelmate 3002WTCi

To keep pace with the lightweight laptops flooding the market, Acer has come out with its lightest ultraportable yet. The Acer TravelMate 3002WTCi weighs just 3.2 pounds and slides easily into your bag. What separates it from the competition is its...

The TravelMate 3002WTCi is Acer's first sub-4-pound ultraportable. It has terrific processing power, ample features, and a value price point that will take the competition head on.

The lack of a built-in optical drive and the so-so keyboard mar this lightweight notebook; however, the price is reasonable for an ultraportable.

Low price, lightweight, long battery life

Uncomfortable keyboard, poor speakers and keyboard design

Nicest toy of them all

Good investment.

I bought this laptop for its high ratio of features per square inch and for its low ratio of dollars per pound... This is the best mobile unit I've ever had. Extra light, two batteries, no nonsense. I love it because it won't break your back; that's...

You need to buy the Extended Total warranty (newegg carries it). The LCD cracked out of the blue. I closed the lid one evening, the next day I couldn't see 90% of the screen. Acer qualifies this as accidental damage and regular warranty doesn't cover...

Best bang for the buck!

Finding a light notebook with good performance and features plus one that's inexpensively priced is pretty hard to find. I searched for about a year for something that was light (under 3.5lbs) 12.1" screen, pcmcia slot, bluetooth, and wifi and support...
