Acer Extensa 5620 notebook

Acer creates a wide range of notebooks for both the business and consumer markets but we're not too sure where the Extensa range fits in to the scheme of things. For instance, the design is clearly a business-like one, after all it's based on the old...

Solid design, nice keyboard

Design is getting old, poor graphics

The Acer Extensa 5620 won't blow you away in the style or performance stakes, but for less than £400 (inc. VAT) it's good enough for every day tasks, especially if your needs are basic, but don't consider it if you're looking for a multimedia machine.

Acer TravelMate 5623WSMi – Inexpensive 17-Inch Notebook On Intel Core 2 Duo

The release of Microsoft Windows Vista has brought a deluge of products that use this operating system. Lots of announcements sound like "Now with Vista!" Indeed, despite the new hardware requirements, the only significant requirement for computers...

Acer Aspire AM5621-EQ9300A Core 2 Quad Q9300(2.50GHz) 8GB DDR2 1280GB NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit (English / French)

great pc for the money, just wish it was a little bit more stable running crysis.

Great gaming rig. A major upgrade from my previous pc and the $699 price tag can't really be beat, even if i were to try and build one myself. runs Crysis on med-high settings at well over 30 fps. can run it on very high at about 20 fps. As far as...

My main con has been some issues with the graphics display driver randomly stopping while playing Crysis. I've got everything updated to the most recent drivers but occasionally the game will crash and i'll get an error about the display driver failing...

Fast, Cheap, Couldn't build my own for that much less

Airflow is horrible, don't get something for the pci slot, the heat from the graphics card will break anything in that slot ; If you decide to get this buy 1 80mm case fan, 1 pci slot fan, some cheap copper sinks for the ram, some zipties, and a very...

Cost effective but hot/dusty

Fast processor, 8 gigs ram, 9800gt

Can accidentally shut down vista cuz of awkward power button. Runs really hot even with an extra case fan (processor is idling at 55 celcius and gpu is at a blazing 75 celcius). Because of the horrible stock fan for the processor, the heatsink gets...

Awesome Netbook

I love the small features that are very subtle. My personal favorite is "pinching" the touchpad to zoom in and out while in Firefox.

Extremely portable and runs very cool. The Battery life normally lasts around 5-6 hours as I cruise the internet and watch videos, listen to music, and other things

No disk drive (but its a netbook and I didn't deduct points)

Good keyboard, fantastic battery life

I ordered this and a 2GB RAM upgrade from Newegg, and I'm happy with my purchase. I've been running the Windows 7 Ultimate beta on it, and it's very responsive.

Solid build, gorgeous matte exterior

It came with XP Home, which I had no use for

Update After 4 Months of Use

This computer runs apps well and the screen size is perfect for a small portable computer. I use Excel spreadsheets on it without troubles. Being that I bought it to be very portable, I am extremely disappointed with its wireless capability. Who cares...

Nothing has changed about the pros of this machine after 4 months of use. Battery life is awesome. Screen and keyboard are still the best of the bunch

WiFi card stinks. I bought this for ultimate portability, but could not lock and hold on to a signal the other day. 10 of my friends with various Apple, Windows-based, and netbook machines had no problem holding the signal. I was left listening to...

My new love!

If you've been searching and waiting for a perfect netbook, don't hesitate to buy the Samsung NC10!!!

Oh my gosh...I am in LOVE! "Sam" is absolutely perfect! He is always ready for me, fires up quickly, and never disappoints. The size and weight of the netbook and clarity of the screen is perfect. I can't wait to travel with my new love! The optional...

I can't think of a single thing. Okay, maybe one, but it is a matter of my adjusting to it. The touch pad is little (duh...it's a little computer). I'm adjusting to it rapidly. It isn't anything that would prevent this purchase

2 Minor defects.

For an owner who is not comfortable taking apart a laptop to fix it like mine, this would have required 2 RMA's in 3 months. However the laptop does disassemble and reassemble very easily, and I now can take the laptop apart and have it back together...

1) Keyboard is Excellent

1) Speakers suck, but are functional for what it does
