Plenty of storage space, 802.11 draft-n wireless networking, ran quietly and didn't get hot, very good battery life, both PC Card and ExpressCard slots

Lacks e-SATA ports, 17in screen only has a native resolution of 1440x900

A desktop replacement notebook with good speed and some versatile connectivity features that's also comfortable to use.

Acer's TravelMate 7720G has a high-quality keyboard, but its weight and battery life mean it's not ideal for carrying around.

The 3.5kg TravelMate 7720G isn't ideal for carrying around, and the battery won't last long anyway. It's £70 cheaper than its nearest rival, the Eclipse, but that extra money buys faster performance. It has a good keyboard, though, so if you type...
