Good machine, but just one thing spoils it all.

I faced one (just one!) major issue with this laptop since buying it... the laptop discharges power on its own, overnight down to 0%! Customer service replaced with a new battery, yet problem unsolved. Been in/out service center for 4 months since owning it for 10 months. I am so lucky that the machine is really light for portability, ha ha!

Quality display, Lightweight, Long battery life, Quiet

Short battery life

Review Acer TravelMate TimelineX 8481TG Notebook

Runtime whopper. Acer puts great value on mobility in the TravelM

Outstanding battery life; Low power consumption; Compact size; Graphics switching; Stable case; Small power adapter; Low weight; Elegant looks

Very audible in load; Slow solid state drive; No optical drive; Moderate screen rates; Wobbly keys

13 or 14 inch runtime whoppers, such as the Dell Vostro 3350, Samsung QX412-S01DE or Asus U36SD-RX114V.

Review Acer Travelmate 8371 Timeline Notebook

The Slim One. In the meantime, the Acer Timeline Series is availa

Case quality; Non-glare display surface; Long battery life; Efficient computing performance; Low weight; Chic and slim design; Very quiet battery mode; Includes XP Professional as a downgrade via recovery DVD; Docking port and fingerprint reader

Fan runs almost permanently; Meager software equipment; UMTS not yet available; Interface connection isn't ideal; Restricted display opening angle

It's own Aspire Timeline 3810T managed to come closest to our test model and is also available with a dedicated graphic, UMTS and at a somewhat lower price. The MSI X340 and the Lenovo Ideapad U350 (currently being tested) are available with only...

you need to own one

Not a good case, but good price. Not very sturdy, and tends to come apart if you lift/ pull it.

excellent battery life, easy 5 hours with wireless and power save mode ON ; very light, making it easy to carry around ; I used to use a netbook, which are slow and cant ran many applications, getting non-responsive but not this one. Also if you are...

The only con i found was that, after waking up from standby the fingerprint scanner can act up and you may need to type in your passwords instead of scanning your finger. Happened 3 times in the last one month

Great Laptop!

I had a problem with the LED screen, but it was easily correctable and has otherwise been error free. I bought one of the earliest production models over 6 months ago.

Lightweight. Great screen. Long Battery life. Enough screen real estate. Extremely slim. I have gone through many laptops and netbooks looking for a computer to travel with. This is by far the best fit for me. Netbooks don't have a high enough...

No DVD. Buy an external and carry it with you when needed. Not a problem but something people should not forget to think about

Acer TravelMate TM8371 notebook review

Earlier in the year, Acer announced its TravelMate 8000 Timeline series - a set of notebooks designed for business users that combine performance, security and battery life. The TM8371 has a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a...

Excellent battery life, thin and light

Looks very boring, poor gaming performance

Excellent performance and oodles of battery life in a thin, light, but dull frame. It doesn't win any awards for gaming performance, but we don't suspect that's what it was designed to do

Acer TravelMate Timeline 8481T review

The Acer TravelMate Timeline 8481T is a very svelte laptop for the travelling businessman. Sadly, its odd battery bulges out of the back making it more awkward to fit into a case. With a slim bezel, fair performance and various security features, it's...

Slim body ; Metal chassis is sturdy when closed ; Comfortable tilted angle when typing ; Good battery life

Lid feels weak when open ; Large battery hump somewhat negates the slim design

The Acer TravelMate Timeline 8481T offers an average performance for the money but makes up for it with a slim and fairly sturdy shell. If you can put up with that awkward battery and don't mind the seriously dull looks, it's worth checking out.

Acer TravelMate Timeline 8371--944G32N review

Acer's TravelMate Timeline 8371 has a plain, grey appearance that looks dowdy compared to most ultra-portable laptops. It feels sturdy, though, with an especially rigid lid that barely flexes at all under pressure.

Acer's TravelMate Timeline is one of the best ultra-portable laptops we've seen thanks to its excellent battery life and performance.

Acer TravelMate Timeline 8371-944G32N - 13.3in Laptop

Acer produces a business version of its Timeline design, adding a fingerprint reader, docking connector and a business-friendly design.

If you're a businessman who has always wanted an ultra-portable but couldn't justify the expense, the TravelMate Timeline 8731 should make you very happy. Its outstanding battery life and realistic price are its best points, but it also retains enough...
