Review Alienware 14 Notebook

Tempting. New case, new name and new components: Alienware risks

Non-glare display with high contrast; Respectable performance; High-quality materials; Excellent build quality; Convenient keyboard; Nice illumination; Large touchpad; Flat PSU; Configurable; Matte finish; mSATA-SSD; 3x USB 3.0

Not all the components are accessible; Enormous noise development; No CPU-turbo under full load; GPU throttling under full load; Meager box content; Bad battery runtimes; Idle temperatures; Bulky case; High weight

14- and 15-inch gaming notebook with the latest hardware, e.g. DevilTech Fire DT14, One K56-3N2, Schenker XMG A523 or Schenker W503.

Alienware 14 Review

The Alienware 14 is a noticeable upgrade over its predecessors; it's a well-rounded notebook with very few cons.

Excellent performance ; Beautiful 1080p IPS display ; Superb build quality and exterior design ; Respectable battery life ; Good keyboard and touchpad

A little thick and heavy ; Expensive as configured

Alienware 14 review

"There's a thousand thin notebooks out there. If you want one, there's plenty of options," says Alienware's Frank Azor. Here at E3, the company's announcing the first new industrial design for its laptops in four years... and yet where most firms are...

Fantastically fast for a 14-incher ; Killer optional 1080p IPS screen ; Great build quality

Thick slab-like design ; Sub-par battery life ; Software quirks

Alienware knows its audience well... but is this possible in a thinner shell?

Alienware 14 gaming notebook (4th gen Core)

Get your game on with this beautiful 14in Alienware lappy

Sturdy construction ; Excellent performance ; Lovely lighting system

Its optical drive made some startling noises ; Graphics switching is a little cumbersome

The Alienware 14 supplies plenty of speed in a relatively small frame. It's mainly aimed at gamers, but even professionals who want a fast laptop should consider it.

Alienware 14

Alienware's new 14-inch gaming laptop is stylish, powerful and... expensive.

Distinct design with customisable lighting ; Strong performance ; Plays games brilliantly

Very expensive ; Extremely loud fans when strained ; Slow charging and average battery

The viewing angles are excellent, and we could still read text from virtually side-on to the screen. A really nice display, suitable for gaming, watching videos and very sharp internet browsing.

Alienware 14

Dell has revamped its gaming line, including the new Alienware 14. The design changes don't go nearly far enough but no complaints about the performance.

Great performance ; Competitive price ; Quirky features

Dated design ; Extremely loud fan ; Very thick
