Alienware 18 Review (Early 2014 model)

The flagship of Alienware's fleet, the Alienware 18 sports an 18.4" IPS display, factory overclocked Intel Core i7 processor and dual Nvidia graphics cards. You'll have a hard time finding a more impressive gaming notebook ... and even more trouble...

Dell Alienware 18 Gaming

Sometimes nothing will satisfy quite like a desktop-dominating monster with an 18-inch screen and a body built like a tank. After a couple of years of ultrabooks and hybrids, it's surprising how much fun a huge PC, one that barely qualifies to be...

Dell's Alienware 18 is highly configurable, with dual video cards, tons of RAM and storage space, and an understated design that you won't hate.

The thick body raises the keyboard uncomfortably high, and getting primo parts costs a lot. Battery life is predictably poor, and this would have been a prime candidate for a better-than-HD screen.

There's a premium to be paid, but the massive Alienware 18 is a show-off-worthy desktop replacement that takes down even the newest PC games, and is just plain fun to use.

Alienware 18 Gaming Notebook Review

We recently had a chance to play with the Alienware 17, and while it's not the perfect 17" gaming notebook, I'm reasonably convinced it's still probably the best one available. Alienware has done a major refresh of their chassis design across their...

Let's get it out of the way: the Alienware 18 is an expensive, niche product. It's a giant, beastly notebook that uses high-powered CPUs and can't be configured with anything less than two GPUs. It has an IPS display and it starts at a pretty...

Alienware 18

Big, bulky, and ostentatious as heck, the Alienware 18 is the ginormous gaming laptop you want to use to show off your riches on the game grid.

Great performance. Smooth gameplay/SLI graphics. Cool lighting effects. Nice 1080p HD screen. Features include everything but the kitchen sink. Large capacity SSD+HDD. 32GB of memory. HDMI is an in/out port. 802.11ac WiFi

Bulky. Heavy. Short battery life

The Alienware 18 gaming laptop is an unapologetic show of opulence and riches. It has the power to play AAA gaming titles at full 1080p HD resolution with all the eye candy and quality settings turned up. It will even interface with a pair of external...

Alienware 18 Review

Packing the best of everything -- including two state-of-the-art GPUs -- the Alienware 18 is the quintessential gaming notebook.

Record-breaking performance; Comfortable keyboard; Awesome lighting effects; Beautiful 1080p display

Front edge can dig into your wrists; Obscenely expensive

Alienware 18 Laptop Review

On our test bench is the Alienware 18, a laptop/Desktop replacement which features high end Intel CPU and SLI'd 780M GPUs. We will be putting it through its paces in synthetic and real world tests including Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts.

Killer SLI graphics performance, Lights galore, Beautiful display, High-end components

Expensive, Heavy, Brief battery life

As a bonus, Alienware offers configurations to fit, well, any budget as long as it's a big one (though we'd skip the quad-SSD RAID array, since it deprives you of an optical drive). Yes, the 18 is huge and heavy, but there's an awful lot of firepower...

Alienware 18 review

A gaming laptop with not one, but two of the best GPUs around

Extraordinary performance ; Envy-inducing style ; Great attention to detail

It's H-U-G-E ; Absurdly expensive ; Could use sharper screen

More so than the Alienware 17 and Origin EON17-S, or any gaming laptop in existence, users should think long and hard before picking up an Alienware 18. There are just far too many more affordable and sensible options out there. For roughly the same...

Dell Alienware 18 gaming laptop

Dell's massive Alienware 18 is more ‘portable desktop' than laptop, but can it justify its massive price?

Desktop-like gaming performance ; Solid and stylish build ; Great keyboard with gaming macro keys

Weighs 5.5kg, 58mm thick ; Costs about double an equivalent desktop

An excellent desktop replacement for serious gamers, let down only by its ultra-premium price.
