Alienware m14x R2

The Alienware M14x R2 is a fine 14-inch gaming laptop hampered only by its performance in a couple of key areas.

Good overall performance. Cache drive boosts access speed. Highly customizable. Attractive gaming-oriented design.

Delivers less-than-optimal DX11 frame rates. Not fastest in every application. Display not full HD.

Alienware M14x R2 Review: Better Than The Original

The market for gaming laptops is filled with massive 15-inch and 17-inch notebooks ... but what if you want something just a little smaller? We took an in-depth look at the 14-inch M14x R2 to see if it will let you "game victorious."

Cool design ; "Good enough performance" for most serious gamers while on the road. ; AlienFX lighting is still awesome

Still a horrible glossy screen ; Still thick and heavy ; Powerful, but not "best in class" ; The new Alienware M14x R2 is clearly an improvement over the original M14x, but Dell could have packed more into this notebook.

Noisy and Fast. Classic gaming laptops too boring for you? The

Convincing performance; Speedy GPU; Bright and contrasty display; Quality workmanship; Good input devices

Hot and noisy under load; Mirror like Display surface; Low SSD capacity; High price

Comparable 14" notebooks are currently not available, so the M14x primarily compete with 15" notebooks like the Schenker XMG A502, Samsung 550P5C or Asus N56. Whoever would like an extremely compact gamer should take a closer look at the Schenker XMG...

Alienware M14x R2 Review

A powerhouse in a small package.

Great design; Runs mostly cool; Powerful specs good enough to play current games at high settings; No bloatware; Lighting system is fun to play around with; Hybrid drive is fast enough to not miss SSD
