Overall great

*Keep in mind my system had the improved 6GB RAM, i7 Quad Core, and 3GB VRAM Video card, which is not included in the base price. This is an all around great computer, but there are some flaws that can't be overlooked. Most people looking into an Alienware are searching for great gaming, and this computer definitely delivers. My system can play games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Black Ops on all max settings with 50~ fps. It's more than playable, and far better than console. Battlefield 3 also plays extremely well, I run a combination of Ultra/medium settings, 4x AA, and 8x AO. This yields about the same framerate, although generally a little better. The games look fabulous, and this computer exceeds my expectations. However, there are some significant downsides. Battery life is extremely short. Even when the battery was brand new, I couldn't get more than 4 hours out of it, just searching the web. I can't even play games unplugged because the computer cuts the frame rate down to 20 automatically. Maybe it's just because I'm not Windows savy (Mac convert) but games aren't playable unplugged. However, besides general other Windows bugs, this computer is great and well worth my money. I feel like it deserves more than a 4 but not quite a 5. I'd give it a 91/100. Great buy, if you have the money you will not be disappointed.

Alienware M14x R2 Review

Noisy and Fast. Classic gaming laptops too boring for you? The

Convincing performance; Speedy GPU; Bright and contrasty display; Quality workmanship; Good input devices

Hot and noisy under load; Mirror like Display surface; Low SSD capacity; High price

Comparable 14" notebooks are currently not available, so the M14x primarily compete with 15" notebooks like the Schenker XMG A502, Samsung 550P5C or Asus N56. Whoever would like an extremely compact gamer should take a closer look at the Schenker XMG...

Dell Alienware M14x notebook Review

Dell's Alienware series of gaming rigs have been a favourite amongst gamers for years, and it's only recently that other companies like Asus and MSI have entered this segment, and are actually doing well we may add. Still, Alienware remains a household...

The M14x that we received will set you back a whopping Rs.1,19,000, which is nearly the same as the Asus G74SX. You may argue that the high price is for the small form factor and portability, but the fact is that it’s just too heavy to be truly...

Review Alienware M14x Notebook

Premiere. The M14x is Alienwares first 14 inch gaming laptop. A quad-core CPU and GeForce GT 555M make the notebook unique, as this kind of hardware is usually only found in larger models, such as the Schenker XMG A501 or the Dell XPS 17. The M14x -...

Great program performance; Excellent display; Rubber surface; Illuminated case; Futuristic design; Good input devices; High battery life; Lovely sound output

Very high noise emissions; CPU throttling under full load; Battery is screwed into place; Glossy display; No GDDR5-VRAM; Somewhat heavy

The great sound offered by the integrated 2.1 speaker system

Alienware m14x R2

The world of 14-inch laptops has largely collapsed under the collective weight of ultrabooks, which over the last year have come to dominate the midrange segment these jack-of-most-trades systems once ruled. But Alienware has apparently not gotten the...

Good overall performance. Cache drive boosts access speed. Highly customizable. Attractive gaming-oriented design

Delivers less-than-optimal DX11 frame rates. Not fastest in every application. Display not full HD

The Alienware M14x R2 is a fine 14-inch gaming laptop hampered only by its performance in a couple of key areas.

Alienware M14x (2012)

Alienware made a dramatic change to its lineup in 2011. For years, Alienware, along with all of the other companies in the gaming laptop market, has offered a 15-inch laptop model. That was just the de facto size for a mid-range gaming machine.

Solid build quality ; Beautiful 1600 x 900 display ; Excellent sound system

Offers poor performance value ; Lacks broad appeal

Size is the selling point. You have to decide if that matters. The 11.6 display the older M11x used was too small, and the M15x was too big. The M14x is just right.

Alienware M14x R2 Review: Better Than The Original

The new Alienware M14x R2 is clearly an improvement over the original M14x, but Dell could have packed more into this notebook.

Cool design ; Good enough performance" for most serious gamers while on the road ; AlienFX lighting is still awesome

Still a horrible glossy screen ; Still thick and heavy ; Powerful, but not "best in class

The Alienware M14x R2 is a perfect example of why it’s so tough to compete in the gaming PC market. Technology moves so fast that you not only have to make sure you’re keeping pace but you have to watch out for what the compeition is doing in the same...

Alienware M14x R2

The Alienware M14x R2 offers excellent performance in a stylish, fairly portable system.

An ideal compromise between power and portability, the $1,604 Alienware M14x R2 makes high-quality fragging on the go a very real possibility. Gamers with smaller wallets but stronger backs might want to check out the larger MSI GT60, which costs $200...

Alienware M14x Review: The Best or Worst Portable Gaming Laptop?

And so the Alienware M14x was born: A 14-inch gaming notebook that takes up roughly as much space as a 15-inch laptop

Cool AlienFX lighting ; Runs cool even when gaming ; Good keyboard and touchpad ; Decent battery life

Glossy screen ; Thick and heavy ; Poor performance at this price

The Alienware M14x is indeed "the most powerful 14-inch laptop in the universe" but that doesn't mean much when you can get a much better 15-inch or 17-inch gaming laptop for the same price (and roughly the same weight)

Alienware M14x

Alienware's first 14-inch notebook, the M14x, provides a potent blend of power and portability in an eye-catching design.

With the M14x, Alienware has once again assembled a battalion's worth of hardware inside a stylish chassis. While you can get the same specs in a larger 17-inch notebook such as the Dell XPS 17, it's pretty fantastic that you can enjoy quad-core power...
