Alienware M14x review: Alienware M14x

Alienware M14x

The ; Dell's latest Alienware laptop, manages to pack amazing performance into a smaller-than-expected body with plenty of configuration options.

High-end configurations can be insanely expensive, and Alienware's laptop design is overdue for a refresh.

It's tough to find mobile PC gaming in a package that's neither too big nor too small. The Alienware M14x comes very close, with plenty of component options and a size that's hefty, but not backbreaking.

Alienware M14x R3

The M14x R3 is the middle child of the Alienware family; it's a great performer on the gaming grid, but its weight and heat issues work against it.

Core i7 and Nvidia GPU are a powerful tag team. Integrated Wireless HD onboard and comes bundled with receiver. Bluetooth. Can play DirectX 11 titles. Two USB 3.0 ports. Backlit keyboard.

Gets hot during gaming sessions. Heavy.

Alienware M14x Review: The Best or Worst Portable Gaming Laptop?

Alienware shocked many gaming enthusiasts when it discontinued the M15x gaming notebook and replaced it with the smaller M14x. We took an in-depth look to find out if the M14x is "The most powerful 14-inch laptop in the universe."

Cool AlienFX lighting ; Runs cool even when gaming ; Good keyboard and touchpad ; Decent battery life

Horrible glossy screen ; Thick and heavy ; Poor performance at this price ; The Alienware M14x is indeed "the most powerful 14-inch laptop in the universe" but that doesn't mean much when you can get a much better 15-inch or 17-inch gaming laptop for...

Review Alienware M14x Notebook

Premiere. The M14x is Alienwares first 14 inch gaming laptop. A q

Great program performance; Excellent display; Rubber surface; Illuminated case; Futuristic design; Good input devices; High battery life; Lovely sound output

Very high noise emissions; CPU throttling under full load; Battery is screwed into place; Glossy display; No GDDR5-VRAM; Somewhat heavy

14 inch notebooks with good graphic cards such as the Acer Aspire 4830TG or the HP Envy 15.

Alienware M14x gaming notebook

The Alienware M14x has high-end performance in a compact and portable machine

High levels of performance ; Plenty of connectivity

Same exterior as last batch

Although the exterior is unchanged from the last model, Alienware's M14x has upgraded power and plenty of connectivity in a well built body.

Alienware m14x (early 2012)

The m14x is now the smallest Alienware laptop you can get. It's a mid-range gaming device both in spec and performance, although, at the price involved, it will come up against stiff competition with Asus' G55VW.

Next generation CPU and graphics. Even the base model has 1600x900. Usual Alienware fare: backlit keyboard, chunky design, decent port flexibility and upgrade options.

Deeply set glossy screen is slightly washed out. SIM slot is not active. Design is starting to look old.
