Aorus X7 Pro

The Aorus X7 Pro is a midrange gaming laptop with competitive performance numbers, thanks to high-end components like dual Nvidia GTX 970M GPUs. Some poor design choices keep it from scoring higher, though.

Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics. Row of customizable macro keys. Gaming keyboard with anti-ghosting. Can turn off Windows key in polished and informative control panel. Two-year warranty.

Pricey. Mediocre screen. Loud fans in default mode. Uncomfortable, flat keys on keyboard. Slippery touchpad. Tinny speakers. Short battery life.

The Aorus X7 Pro is a stellar performer on the benchmark tests, there is no doubt of that. However, quality issues with its ergonomics, audio, and video keep it from a much higher score. Given that you're paying close to $2,600 for this laptop, you...

Aorus X7 Pro v5 Notebook Review

Performance artist. The fifth edition of Aorus' X7 is one of the strongest and yet slimmest gaming laptops on the market. Find out in our test report whether the manufacturer has this combination well under control or whether the cooling system is...

high-contrast IPS panel ; manual fan control ; max. 4 storage devices ; dedicated macro keys ; very slim chassis ; outstanding performance ; stylish design ; useful tools ; NVMe SSD ; USB 3.1 ; G-Sync

sensitive high-gloss touchpad with middling gliding traits ; exorbitant power consumption for laptops ; somewhat outdated GPU driver preloaded ; very warm wrist rest during load ; limited WiFi reception ; keyboard should be higher ; short battery life

Setting aside the short battery life and the hassle with the outdated GPU driver, Aorus' X7 Pro v5 gives a good overall performance.

Aorus X7 Pro Review

Does the Aorus X7 Pro hit the sweet spot of performance and portability?

Excellent performance ; Beautiful slim design ; Improved display

Expensive ; Chassis runs hot ; Fan runs loud ; The Aorus X7 Pro is an attractive powerhouse, cramming a ridiculous amount of power into an incredibly slim form form factor, but the expensive price point and loud fan may act as a deterrent for some users.

Aorus X7 Pro Notebook Review

Performance at all costs. Aorus is one of the first manufacturers to fuse two GeForce GTX 970M cards to an SLI array. Both the performance and the waste heat are correspondingly high. Can the slim 17-inch chassis deal with this load?

Up to three mSATA SSDs, Outstanding performance, High-quality materials, Backlit keyboard, Acceptable weight, Modern design, Practical tools, Thin casing, Matte screen, Macro hub

Extreme temperature & noise development, Wi-Fi range could be better, Production flaws (keyboard), Less than perfect interface distribution, Turbo Boost not maxed out, Power supply & cooling close to the limit, CPU throttling during full load, High...

"Uncompromising" - that could summarize the X7 Pro in one word. To stand out from the competition, Aorus installs two premium-range chips in a high-quality, yet not particularly well-built 17-inch casing that can only deal with the enormous cooling...

Aorus X7 Pro-SYNC review

A lean and mean beast of a gaming laptop

Incredibly thin for a fully-loaded system ; Record breaking performance ; Modern, cool style

Hard to click trackpad ; Tornado-producing fans ; Incredibly short battery life

The Aorus X7 Pro is an amazingly thin and light 17.3-inch gaming laptop that plays modern games with ease, but it suffers from some serious fan noise and heat issues.

Aorus X7 Pro v5 review: A 4K gaming monster

It's very expensive, but the Aorus X7 Pro v5 is a top of the range gaming laptop that doesn't pull its punches

It might not have the best display in the world, but when it can deliver flawless Full HD gaming performance and a highly respectable 4K innings as well, even its lacklustre screen isn’t enough to dampen its overall appeal. Regardless of whether you’re...

Aorus X7 Pro gaming laptop review

The first version of Gigabyte's Aorus X7 laptop used a pair of nVidia GeForce GTX 765M in scalable-link interface (SLI) mode. Then the Aorus X7 V2 was launched last summer with two nVidia GeForce 860M processors. And now, to keep up with nVidia's...

With the help of nVidia's recent push to make powerful mobile graphics processors that consume less energy, the Aorus X7 Pro now turns in gaming performance once only available to desktop machines. Just make sure you pack some sound-deadening...

GTX 970M SLI is great for Full HD gaming.

Under load X7 Pro-Sync is far too noisy.

While we admire Aorus X7 Pro-Sync for its performance and styling we cannot forgive the excessive noise from the cooling system. In extreme cases too, the CPU may throttle.
