13-inch Retina MacBook Pro Review (Late 2012)

Earlier this year Apple introduced its first Mac equipped with a Retina Display. The 15.4-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display (henceforth rMBP) introduced a brand new, thinner and lighter chassis to the MacBook family while serving as the launch...

MacBook Pro with Retina display review (13-inch, late 2012)

Look down the aisles at any Apple launch event, across the laps of dozens of journalists liveblogging or in some other way documenting the goings-on, and it's inevitable that you'll see MacBooks. A lot of MacBooks. And, since many of those laps are...

Thinner and lighter than the other 13-inch Pro ; Near-comprehensive selection of ports ; Great I/O performance

Thicker than 15-inch Retina Pro ; No discrete graphics ; Price

Apple's new 13-inch MacBook with a Retina display effectively crosses the divide between Air and Pro, but at a premium cost.

13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display review (2013)

Standing in a Best Buy is an odd time for an existential crisis. Yet it's an almost certain occurrence, at least when you're there shopping for a laptop. More so than with any other product category, buying a laptop forces you to make all manner of...

Gorgeous screen ; Excellent battery life ; Thinner and lighter than ever

Relatively small usable screen real estate ; Poor speakers ; Definite graphics restraints

Not quite a perfect mix, but an excellent middle ground

Review: 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display (late 2012)

When Apple released the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display last June, it started at US$2,200. When the 13-inch model arrived last October, it rang up at only $1,800. Progress, I suppose – but still a pretty penny. Now, however, Apple has dropped...

For this review, we handled the entry-level (128 GB, 2.5 GHz) model. Apple recently upgraded the 256 GB model with a slightly-faster 2.6 GHz chip, but otherwise the two machines are identical.

MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina display review

Apple's incredible Retina screen comes to its smaller MacBook Pro

Incredible screen ; Ivy Bridge processors ; Fast solid state storage ; Gestures trackpad ; Great battery life

Very expensive ; No FireWire 800 or Ethernet ports ; No optical drive ; Very difficult to repair or upgrade ; 15-inch model might be better value

We can't say it came as a surprise.

13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Apple's Retina notebook display comes to its 13-inch MacBook Pro, as does a processor update and the introduction of flash-only storage. The portable Mac powerhouse does get harder to tinker with after you've bought it, though.

Ultra high-res Retina Display Updated processors Fast flash storage

No option for 1TB storage No discrete graphics No removable memory or hard drive

MacBook Pro Retina Late 2012 Notebook

Made for travelling and daily mobile use.

In the spring of 2012, Apple made a breakthrough on the laptop market and released its first MacBook Pro with a Retina display, boasting a really high resolution of 2880x1800 pixels. Moreover, the much thinner novelty offered the same performance as...

Meet the cheaper, but not cheap, and impressive retina display model.

What could be the best laptop ever just became truly portable.

I choose this over 2013

Resale value on Mac's tends to be a lot higher than PC Laptops. I was using a 2008 Macbook unibody before this and it was running great. The only reason i really upgraded was for retina.

I was on board to buy the 2013 model but I chose the late 2012 model instead. This model has the IVY bridge chipset so although its not haswell, its no dog either. The 8GB and slightly higher clock speed make this machine very good ; The graphics are...

No way to upgrade Memory, but 8GB is a nice amount. Hard drive is a pain to upgrade but it is possible
