Apple MacBook 2.0GHz

The MacBook replaces a long, proud line of iBook laptops that have traditionally served students and consumer-level Mac users; the iBook being the ideal budget portable that upheld the integrity of Apple's hardware and software architectures. And...

Very affordable; light weight; good battery life; quiet operation; bright screen

Built-in speakers could be a little louder

The Intel-based MacBook surpassed every expectation that I had. I am duly impressed!

Apple MacBook 2.0GHz

Apple did amazingly well with its laptop sales last year, and much of that success was down to this little beauty. The MacBook is Apple's excellent consumer laptop and it's just seen its first upgrade.

Bright and Glossy Display, 1GB RAM as Standard, Intel Core 2 Duo Architecture, Apple Remote, Mac OS X, iLife '06

Still Has an Insensitive Trackpad Button

Good, certainly. But if you already own a Core Duo MacBook, there's little reason to upgrade

Apple MacBook (2.0GHz) review

The Apple MacBook is an eminently stylish laptop which offers good all-round performance. It's let down by its propensity to collect fingerprints and smudges, and by its lack of input/output ports, but its excellent keyboard and screen make it one of...

Stylish design ; Attention to detail ; Keyboard

Picks up fingerprint smudges very easily ; A tad heavy

It performed nearly identically to the MacBook Pro in our video-encoding tests, completing the encoding process in 25.5 minutes, versus the Macbook Pro's 25 minutes. Gaming performance was unsurprisingly lacklustre. It ran Doom 3 at a paltry 3.8 frames...

Apple MacBook (2.0GHz, 13-inch, black)

With the MacBook, Apple has corrected a handful of the iBook's shortcomings, hit a reasonable price point, and delivered a laptop that makes a great compromise between size and portability.

Thin and light ; Robust software package, including Mac OS X Tiger ; Magnetic lid latch and scrollable touch pad ; DVD burner ; Built-in Webcam ; Remote control ; Can run Windows XP using Apple's free Boot Camp utility

Non-native software runs slowly on Mac OS ; Lacks media card reader and some other ports ; Higher-end configurations are much more expensive than similarly configured Windows laptops ; Only 90 days of toll-free tech support

Apple PowerBook G4 (1.5GHz, 12-inch) OS X 10.4.2; PowerPC G4 1.5GHz; 512MB PC2700 333MHz DDR SDRAM; Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 64MB; Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 80GB 5,400rpm

Apple MacBook 2.0GHz

I despise computers. I'm 32, so I am part of the ‘didn't grow up with them but look young, so better be an expert' crowd. I don't play video games, don't collect DVD's and the technology of my book collection hasn't changed once in my three + decades.

Apple MacBook 2.0GHz

Switching from a Windows PC is a chore. I purchased the Macbook Pro expecting as advertised that my software would be installed. Worse many, many hours were required to download system updates though I don't know if ithey nstalled or where.

Apple MacBook 2.0GHz

This is my first Mac. I've used Macs in the educational environment for many years, and use Windows PCs at work, and have always had a preference towards PCs at home. So when I decided to replace my trusty Dell notebook with a new MacBook, it was a...

Like every review before me has said this is a fantastic computer for what it costs. It is a typical Mac., everything works seamlessly. The only negatives are: heat of the battery (it gets quite hot) and the when the computer is open teh edge that you...
