Review Apple MacBook Pro 15 Mid 2009 2.8 GHz

Best. - That's how Apple has named its strongest version of the 1

Excellent workmanship, stability and design; Improved display; Usually very quiet; Switchable graphic (in Mac OS); Very light and slim (for 15" notebooks)

Heat development; Intensely reflective display; Sharp front edge

For Apple users of course clearly the lower-priced 2.53 GHz model and also the smaller 13" MacBook Pro (if the larger display and the dedicated graphic card isn't needed).

Apple MacBook Pro Summer 2009 (Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB, 15-inch)

Editors' Note (April 13, 2010): Apple has updated its line of MacBook Pros with new Intel processors and improved Nvidia graphics. See CNET's coverage of the Spring 2010 MacBook Pros for more information.

Price cut from previous version; new SD card slot; keeps the same solid unibody construction and oversize trackpad.

Loses the ExpressCard slot; switching GPUs not as seamless as it should be.

Apple's 15-inch MacBook Pro makes only minor tweaks to the previous version, but cutting prices and swapping the ExpressCard slot for an SD card slot are enough to make it a solid improvement over its predecessor.

Apple Macbook Pro (13in)

Apple's 13in MacBook Pro is the smallest notebook in the company's "Pro" range, but it still packs quite a punch. This laptop is a fantastic compromis...

Fantastic build quality and design, extremely long battery life, multi-touch trackpad, beefy processor and RAM options

RAM upgrades are expensive through Apple, no anti-glare display coating option, battery can't be removed

The 13in Apple MacBook has gone Pro, with more memory, beefier processors and an embedded battery that outlasts similar-sized notebooks we've tested. We would prefer an option for a more powerful graphics card though.

Apple MacBook Pro notebook review

In the past, when it comes to updating, the MacBook Pro range its had tweaks here and there but never such a radical overhaul. The new model gets a new design, new features and new functionality. Let's start with the design. Aping parts of the MacBook...

Trackpad, design, performance

Sockets too close together for USB dongle users, expensive

If you've got the cash and are in the market for a top of the range notebook this will do you nicely. It's just a shame it has to be so expensive

Apple MacBook Pro

The new 17-inch MacBook Pro finally brings the top end NVIDIA 9600M GT graphics, all in one aluminium shell, redesigned keyboard and all in one trackpad to the big brother of Apple's laptop line. The good Apple could have just taken the new 15 inch...

You could spend all your working day just staring at the 17-inch MacBook Pro, it's that gorgeous. But if you find the strength to pop the lid, you'll also discover it's the one of the most powerful computers on Earth that you can yank from the wall and...

"A Very Attractive and Incredible Machine"

I love this computer. It is very reliable, and it is fun to use. It is very fast as well; my average shut-down time is three seconds. It seems to be overall sturdy, though I am sometimes worried about the speakers. While I love that this computer has a...

Apple MacBook Pro Notebook

High quality product with high quality finish. Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a solid laptop and who is sick of cheap plastic laptops.

Keyboard backlight Aluminium unibody Keys on the keyboard are really 'soft' and easy to press. Enough connections and ports for several accessories

DVD drive makes a strange noise when you put a DVD in and sounds like it is breaking the disc

"after 2 years"

I have to admit what makes this machine stand out is the Apple operating system (THE BEST). In terms of hardware, I would be looking (back) at the indestructible Lenovo (former IBM).

The Apple OS and user interface . Flawless operation after two years.

Flimsy case and useless 90-days warranty. Runs hot (fixed thru downloadable fan control software). No delete button.
