Apple MacBook Pro Spring 2010 (Core i5 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 17-inch)

Editors' note (February 24, 2011): Apple has updated its line of MacBook Pros with new second-generation Intel Core i-series processors, AMD and Intel HD 3000 graphics, and high-speed Thunderbolt I/O ports. See CNET's coverage of the Winter 2011...

Adds fast, efficient Intel Core i5, i7 processors, new Nvidia graphics, seamless switching between integrated, discrete GPUs...

At the top end of the price scale; still no HDMI, Blu-ray, or other high-end options.

Apple's 15-inch MacBook Pro keeps the same look and feel, but offers major internal changes, including an optional Intel Core i7 CPU, making it a very serious portable powerhouse.

Apple MacBook Pro Spring 2010

1. Any Mac User has FREE LIFETIME PERSON-TO-PERSON SUPPORT. All one has to do is to go to any Apple Store and talk to an Apple Genius. You can't do that with any other computer. And this is a HUGE ADVANTAGE for Macs. Thus, the 90-Day Telephone...

"Best System Ever!!!"

I was so confused as to what size of the Macbook Pro to get. I really wanted something I could do tons of work on while at the same time have the joy of portability. So I went with the 15in and it is totally the right size for me!!! Get you a Mac Now!!!!

The Macbook Pro is simply amazing! It's fast, loaded with features and it does not disappoint when it comes to the style and look.

None at all!!

"APPLE SUPPORT RATES 10 there are reasons for 90 days!"

Apple support is rated the best support ten years straight. HP, DELL, ACER, SONY, etc DO NOT OFFER FREE PHONE SUPPORT. If you have an issue with Microsoft Windows HP tells you that you are SOL and to call windows where they will fix the issue for $140...

This is in response to the editor. You question why Apple only gives 90 days of phone support? Because American ENGLISH (and understandable ENGLISH) support is expensive. Apple does not outsource and pay Inidians $3 an hour to trouble shoot.

There is no con about Apple support, you get non-outsourced phone support that is less expensive than HP, DELL, ACER any of the powerhouses. HP costs over 80 for phone support in which they outsource and pay probably less than $3 an hour for support.

"Great product"

This is an excellent product all around. Other than that it is a bit pricey, it is a great product overall.

Excellent interfase compared to PC-based O/S.

A little pricey.

"IMHO A true desktop replacement."

First off, I'm a guy that loves lifting heavy weights in the gym, so weight was never an issue for me. The issue was always screen real estate and a keyboard where I can type most comfortably and the MBP fits the bill. My only gripe is the inability to...

Big screen, great resolution, cool factor, speed.

Still don't know how to import my music library & Apps from my Windows computer to this Mac!

"The best computer I've ever owned!"

I got this MacBook in August and I have used it everyday. Not once has there been a single issue with anything. I use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5 and not once has the computer crashed or showed signs...

High resolution display (1680 x 1050) is of very high quality. The boot-up time is only about 30 seconds. Great design. Easy to carry around. The trackpad is easy to use. The built-in iSight camera is very handy. Very fast Core i5 processor.

Short battery life, not the 8-9 hours that Apple claim. Glossy display acts as a mirror, I can see my face sometimes. Heats up to about 70°C quite quickly. I paid 2100? for this.

"AppleCare and Bootcamp for Windows TERRIBLE"

Here is my experience trying to get Windows running properly using Bootcamp... specifically trying to get the drivers for my Macbook Pro installed in my Windows installation after having lost the Mac OSX install CD that comes with the computer:

nice for just Mac OSX

Terrible when you try and use Bootcamp or Windows or AppleCare.

Apple MacBook Pro Spring 2010 (Core i5 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 15-inch)

The two major cons is the mouse pad. There is no dedicated clicker (like the old Mac) and the mouse wanders when trying to click (trying to keep you fingers steady can be difficult). I use both OS and PC operating systems on the mac. 75% of the time...

Start up is much faster than my old Macbook Pro (15" and 17") and PC laptop

Poorly designed mouse and USB slot locations
