Apple MacBook Pro Summer 2009 (Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB, 15-inch)

Editors' Note (April 13, 2010): Apple has updated its line of MacBook Pros with new Intel processors and improved Nvidia graphics. See CNET's coverage of the Spring 2010 MacBook Pros for more information.

Price cut from previous version; new SD card slot; keeps the same solid unibody construction and oversize trackpad.

Loses the ExpressCard slot; switching GPUs not as seamless as it should be.

Apple's 15-inch MacBook Pro makes only minor tweaks to the previous version, but cutting prices and swapping the ExpressCard slot for an SD card slot are enough to make it a solid improvement over its predecessor.

Great laptop for college student

Good performance, good graphics, backlit keyboard helps when writing last minute essays at night while the roommate is sleeping, sleek design, lightweight, perfect size for bringing class to class

Seems to overheat a lot (might be due to my excessive usage, but hearing the fan going at high speed is annoying), battery life is not the best--usually have to charge at least 2x a day (again, most likely due to the amount that I use it)

Got it in date when Snow Leopard came out

I love my macbook pro up to date, I'm still using using this and is the best pc replacement I can have.

Slim, Fast, Portable, and easy memory and hdd upgrade

not very optimal for gaming, internal hdd could be bigger

Apple MacBook Pro Summer 2009 Review (Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, 15-inch) - Laptops

This is a very nice system. The overall look is simplistic, yet appealing and the hardware meshes well together to create a system that performs near-flawlessly...even when heavy tasks are being performed on it. Makes a great Windows machine if you...

System is very well designed and comes with everything the average user would need and more. System is very stable and when loaded with Windows, it is easily one of the best Windows machines out there whether using VMware, Parallels, or Bootcamp

Gets very hot on the bottom after extended use and never even come close to the advertised battery life of the system. Might get 3 to 4 hours out of it. Strange random popping sound from speakers and gets annoying over time

Terrible computer, TONS OF ISSUES!

I am extremely dissatisfied with this laptop. While the external features were good for the most part, I had tons of issues with the internal components of this computer. When the CPU usage went all the way up, even though I was only on a web browser...

Beautiful display ; Very durable ; Great keyboard

Many of the internal components have issues ; WiFi card doesn't work much of the time ; CPU goes to full usage almost every day. This takes up to five minutes to go back and you can't do anything with the computer whiles it's at full usage

13 months old, crashed and now needs new hard drive

Had problems with the DVD felt seal coming loose and jamming up the DVD drive. Took it to a "genius" at the apple store who repaired it but forgot to reconnect the DVD drive cable- I had to crack it open and reconnect it myself. One month after the...

I bought my macbook pro 15 new in August '09 and for 13 months it worked very well with very few freeze-ups. I was happy with its fast start up and good battery life between charges

1699 Macbook Pro + 13 months = crashed hard drive, lost data, and a $350 repair bill

Worth every penny!

I should start with this, I love apple. In 2006 I trashed my Dell and bought a one way ticket to Apple. I haven't looked back. I wondered if it could get any better. Then the 2009 came out. So much faster. In a year I haven't had a single issue with...

Easy to use. Functional. Free software is actually useful. Fast. Never crashes. Great battery life. Beautiful. Light. Easy to create powerpoint, word, publisher, movies & websites w/ software. Bluetooth. Awesome

If you don't buy Microsoft Office, compatibility issues arise. Have to buy 2 cords to connect to TV
