The Gold Standard

Owned for 4 months.

Easy to clean, easy to upgrade (see 'other thoughts', below), durable and classy. Gets you noticed in public. Using BOOT CAMP, you can run Vista, XP, Linux, or anything else you want (including the ability to dual boot Tiger, etc).

You'll absolutely NEED a USB hub and USB card reader as there are only two USB ports and no card reader (which comes standard on most $499 laptops, these days). No PCMCIA or EXPRESS card slot, so you'll NEVER have E-SATA abilities on this notebook, let...

Apple MacBook MB402LL/B Intel Core 2 Duo 2.10GHz 13.3" WXGA 1GB 120GB DVD±R/RW Intel GMA X3100

5 eggs no doubt even with the cons cause the mac os is pretty much another linux setup which is a good thing for email and internet. Cons really become shown with Vista.

lcd quality is top of the line, webcam pq is great, intel x3100 handles pretty well for a non dedicated graphics card.

Very limited ports, sound itself is average, but when going up or down on the volume it creates a "pop" sound ( not the apple sound bit, but an interference sound ) . DVD drive is a bit slow but nothing to worry about.

Love it

OS-X is as simple or complicated as you want - but it takes some time getting used to. This notebook and OS-X isn't for everyone, but I highly recommend it if size and battery life are your main concerns.

Lightweight, friendly user as soon as you got detox from Windows.

white looks real nice, but needs extra care. I rather it black but i wasnt able to pay more for the color

Not for Mechanics

It has replaced the car DVD player due to its great screen quality and much better sound.

The perfect blend of performance, style, convenience.

The keyboard tends to pick up dirt from unclean fingers so if you're a mechanic this is not for you!

great mobile comp

I used to be the type of PC user who wasn't just indifferent to Macs, but thought that people who owned Macs were actually stupid. Because Macs cost more and don't have as much software and can't play games. Well, it may be true that they cost more...

I've been a PC user for at least 15 years and I can't say that I'll ever go back. I bought a 7 year old Power Mac about a year ago at a local auction for <$100. That 7 year old Mac ran better than my 4 year old PC. For any PC user sitting on the...

Be sure that you actually need a mobile computer as you have to be somewhat diligent about battery maintenance. Otherwise your battery will lose its charge faster over the long run. New batteries cost about $130. Also, if you're burning a disc, be sure...

20 Years Ahead of it's time

I've work as an IT specialist for 4 years and hated macs before. then i was forced to learn it for school, ever since then my pc has been used only for downloading, nothing more. :D

Very intuitive

The keyboard isn't as comfortable to type in as in the previous g4 ibook and powerbooks.

never though i would like mac this much

this is my first mac, and i love it, but there are still a lot of things you can only do on a PC. I would advise buying this module and upgrading the ram yourself (2 Gigs, $50) and the HD from a 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm (%90) instead of buying a different...

great form factor, battery is great, wireless N. save hundreds of dollars to upgrade the ram and HD youself (anyone can do it)

can't upgrade processor or video card, and the list of compatible programs and codecs doesn't compare to a windows.

Apple delivers again!

Purchase a 2x1GB DDR2 set - it will boost system performance a bunch, especially if you're planning on running Vista and/or Parallels Desktop, and games. Sandpapering the sides of the laptop also helps to rid of the sharp edges.

I have owned a different model - the 1.83 GHz model - but I am still satisfied. The screen is very bright and the new keyboard format is comfortable to type on and prevents crumbs from falling into the keyboard. Applications were fairly fast and...

When I first got the unit, the display frame was loose - I had to send it back to the Apple Store to get it repaired, which left me without a laptop for about a week. The edges are also very sharp, which can cause slight pain around the wrists. As most...

Recent Mac Convert

If you plan to use Parallels (or other heavy programs), 1GB might not be enough. I upgraded to 3GB and I haven't had to wait for anything since.

Very compact

None, but see below.
