Review Apple MacBook Pro 17" Notebook (Aluminium Unibody, 17", 9600M GT, T9550)

Big, light, and beautiful Whilst a little late, Apple has finally

Workmanship; Design; Glass Trackpad; Good keyboard (for Mac Os X); Light (for 17")

Hot under heavy loads; Display is very reflective; Few connections; Poor Windows drivers

The performance in applications of the flat laptop is down to the fast Core 2 Duo T9550 and DDR 3 main memory. The graphical performance is however only mid-range for a DTR-notebook with the GeForce 9600M GT.

Apple MacBook Pro 2009 (2.66GHz, 17-inch)

When the latest 13- and 15-inch MacBooks were announced in October 2008, a similar revamp of the larger 17-inch version of the MacBook Pro was conspicuously missing from the lineup. In January of 2009, Apple announced the 17-inch model would be getting...

New aluminum unibody construction comes to the 17-inch model; useful multitouch trackpad gestures; attractive edge-to-edge glass on display; dual graphics provide more power or more battery life

All-clicking trackpad is a bit awkward; matte screen option costs extra; switching GPUs is not as seamless as it should be

A little late to the party, Apple's redesigned 17-inch MacBook Pro joins the 15-inch model with a redesigned aluminum body, new trackpad with expanded functionality, and a dual-graphics setup for either longer battery life or better performance.

From PC to MAC - Will NEVER Go Back To PC/Windows!

There is no comparison with the PC/Windows and a MacPro they are different in many respects, and perhaps similar with some. The Mac is fast, starts up quick every time, quite, no noise at all. Getting use to the mac after so many years on a PC, is no...

FIrst - noticed how well package; easy and very fast set-up; light but yet sturdy - the new body design is awesome to the eye, truly a work of art. No desktop clutter; track pad is wonderful to use, unique in its own! Operating systems it tops

I guess the # one gripe would be the price. For spending over 3K is a lot, but you get what you pay for, truly a remarkable computer! I have had no problems yet, just purchased my MacPro -January 2010. I made the decision and spent the

Brilliant! Bought, downsides, but came back for more

I've tried out all the current unibody macbooks, from the 13 to the 17, and even the Air; but i ultimately came back to the 17 because, well--the screen size allows me to breathe again. I felt restricted by the 13 despite the awesome size, and I wanted...

Nice thing, except for some quality issues...

Computer of this price-tag should really be carefree for first two months, and have a decent audio-chip, the left-side fan has started to imitate helicopter and there is quite a noticeable hiss on earphones...

Lovely screen, long battery life and quite powerful specially as the beefed up version

Technical issues within two first months ; audio jack hisses ; misses real DVI-port, even though is thick enough (unlike the smaller ones) to really accomodate one ; how about addition of eSATA ; Come on, 800? of 8gb ram update is bit too much

Finally! a complete, intuitive computer

I've been in computers since 1981 when we used 8in floppies and basic four and fortran programming languages. I finally got tired of dealing with hack attacks, having to rebuild my computer every year to keep up with tech advances. This laptop is...

Well organized apps, graphics clean and sharp and support is excellent. From an almost instant start up to quick switching from one app to another and on to software that is fully supported. A real joy to take on the job or play with at home

This unit did not have a non glare screen. It can be distracting at times when I'm away from a controlled lighting environment

Honest, unbiased review from recent Vista to Mac convert

Mac ads kinda overstate the power of Mac. While it is a superb computer, It can and has locked up with individual programs on me. This may be a result of Snow Leopard though. As stated in Cons all OS can be plagued by these problems so OS X is not a...

Better battery Life than any laptop i've ever used/owned, decent specs, OS X = major improvement over Vista. Multitouch gestures on Trackpad=great. Few if any lockups or crashes.. (a small number of program crashes for me)

Top of the line components not a choice, No BLURAY !!, OS X is an operating system.. All Operating Systems CAN lock up, crash, and get viruses.Misleading Advertising. PRICE

2nd time Mac owner who has also used PC's since DOS was king. The 17" MacBook Pro is the Rolls Royce of laptops. It boots quick, runs perfectly, looks cool, and just works - first time, every time. The beautiful, rugged aluminum case is artful and...

Very, very fast & smooth operation, thin, high resolution, large screen area, backlit keyboard, great sound for a laptop, rugged & sleek aluminum case, truly functional sleep feature, long battery life, proprietary software works perfectly

Very, very expensive, oddball video connector, expensive options like tech support and matte screen which should be free, sparse manual, no 10-key pad, usual Mac compatibility issues with non-proprietary applications like WMV's & PDF's

Nice as long as it does not break!

Story: -The latest and mightiest Macbook pro 17-inch was bought by my university on the 30th of June 2009. Apple care included. -Computer crashed frequently and battery life decreased very quickly. -When battery life went to 4 hours or less, took it to...

Great design, nice O/S

Cost of a new Macbook pro: 2500 euros ; Time for it to break down: 2 months ; Time required to repair it: 1 month and counting ; Time required to spend on the phone: 5 hours and counting ; Apple customer service: WORTHLESS
