The biggest downside of the more powerful version is the excessively high increase in price. For the better hardware configuration, Apple is currently charging 400 Euro on top of the already very high starting price of 1,749 Euro. Mac users with high...

Because of the Sandy Bridge chipset defect, the release of comparable laptops is lagging. The successors to high-end notebooks like the Sony VAIO VPC-Z13Z9E or HP Envy 15 will make for some good competition once released.

Two big considerations make us lean in favor of investing in the matte screen model: First, if you're planning to use the MacBook Pro for several hours every day, consider that glossy screens strain the eyes more. Second, using the laptop on the go,...

Apple MacBook Pro Winter 2011 review

After a now-customary period of rumors, leaks, and anecdotal evidence, Apple's new generation of MacBook Pro laptops has arrived. And though these new models may look the same as the ones they replace, the changes under the hood are some of the most...

Powerful updates to the CPU and GPU; excellent battery life; still the best touch pad and gesture controls of any laptop.

Upgrades can get expensive; Thunderbolt is an unproven technology with as-yet no compatible products; still no dedicated HDMI, Blu-ray, or other wished-for options.

It's a hefty investment, but the combination of new high-end Intel processor options and AMD graphics makes the 15-inch MacBook Pro an all-around powerhouse, with the new Thunderbolt I/O port as an added bonus.

Apple MacBook Pro 15in (MC723B/A)

Faster CPUs, more powerful graphics and Thunderbolt come together to make the MacBook Pro a compelling portable workstation.

Fast CPUs ; Good graphics performance ; Thunderbolt ; Beautiful chassis design

If you can afford the admittedly high asking price, the MacBook Pro has a lot to offer. In terms of hardware, it's on par with any equivalent PC based laptop and adds in its own unique feature in the shape of ThunderBolt. The key point, though, is that...

Great processing power, amazing screen, + small touches

The speed is amazing, handles my internet search brilliantly. The screen size is perfect and the laptop as a whole is easy to navigate, even for first time Mac users.

The only major cons are the price for the laptop and the accessories. Plus AppleCare is extremely expensive.
