Great Netbook

I have owned this netbook since 2010 and so far it has worked flawlessly the whole time! The battery life is still about the same as when I first purchased this and since then I have also upgraded with 4GB of RAM and installed a SSD drive into it....

Wish it didn't have a glossy screen!

Enter The Minibeast

If you're looking for a netbook that's not lacking in the horsepower and won't break the bank, get this one. You will not be disappointed. (off topic rant): Oh and since when was it okay to censor someones words Newegg? Potentially offensive? Cry about...

This is the best netbook you can get for the price, that's the bottom line. Even two years later, it still kicks some serious sphincter. I'm talking older (FALLOUT 3, Mirrors Edge, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect 2, Half Life 2, I could go on ) games, great...

Super glossy top, fixed easily with a sweet science blue star trek skin. And I guess you could say the ram upgrade is a con, but like I said earlier; totally worth it.

Nice Piece Right Out of the Box

If you purchase one of these do what I did or am doing. Load it up, burn it in (in case there is a warrantable issue that needs correction). Then start the fun - I got rid of the bloatware, upgraded to 7 home premium, stuck in 2 gigs of Crucial ram...

This is my second netbook purchase (from Newegg of course) and I liked it right out of the box. Turned it on and 7 starter loaded, found my network, and it was up and running in less than 10 minutes (1st exp. w/Win 7). Speed, screen view, and especially...

These aren't really cons, but mostly personal preferences: Be careful the first time you plug into the USB ports. The ones on this machine were very, very tight - to the point it felt like I was going to break them loose on the board. After using them...

Happy with it

HDMI works great. You won't find it on the Atom netbooks. Simply a far superior graphics chip. Runs Stellarium fine but needed to set priority to low in task manager to keep mouse from stuttering. Use Prio to save setting.

Windows7 starter sucks, upgraded to Home Premium.

Best Market Value

I had some concerns about the battery life, but I'm getting over 5 hours with Aero enabled (upgraded to home premium). I haven't even attempted to explore power save options. I did a Kingston 1060 2GB upgrade. It's well worth the $40 investment. This...

-this case feels very solid and durable, even for being ultra thin -the keyboard also feels very solid, but it's relatively easy to type on -the screen is an led lcd, so it looks ultra sharp -hdmi out has fully functioning sound! -dedicated video...

It does run a little more warm than intel atom based netbooks. I generally have concerns over components running hot, but the machine itself doesn't seem to get hot. It feels more like it's just ventilating more heat. I also don't care for the power...

Fan defective upon opening

I was very surprised with newegg's service. Their employees did not place my customer satisfaction as a top priority at all. i found both Representatives i spoke with to be very rude and useless at resolving my issue with the netbook. In addition, i...

Very high processing rate for netbooks & the aesthetics of the netbook were beautiful.

Fan made a very loud, annoying, and constant high pitched noise. I also encountered issues with powering from sleep mode: the device failed to power on from sleep mode and i had to remove the battery to get it to turn on.

WOW nuff said

I would HIGHLY recommend a 2gig memory stick, it turns this from a good netbook to an amazing computer. Netbook seems unfitting of such an great piece of technology.

I have never written a review before, as in never in my life. This netbook was so amazingly fantastic it seemed an injustice not to praise it. To say its fast is like saying the sun is kinda hot. It's ridiculous, I can play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on medium...

Absolutely none, I want every other company to take note of this netbook at this price point and realize THATS what people want.

Nice!

See a couple others have had problems with it. You are always gonna get that with anything you buy. I would definitely recomend this netbook to anyone.

Very nice netbook! Love the AMD processor. The HDMI out is a great plus, keyboard is a good size. Did upgrade the ram to 2 gig Crucial DDR3 1333 tho as a few others said. No problems so far, been almost 4 weeks now. Video is nice with the ATI graphics.

Windows 7 starter, come on Microsoft, at least it would be nice to change the wallpaper! Got it changing wallpapers every 10 minutes with a nice little program that someone wrote.

Acer AO521-3530

For those who're thinking about using Linux on this thing, the battery (as mentioned before) isn't recognized by the kernel yet for some reason, but that's really the only issue. Wireless drivers are already built into the kernel so you don't need to...

Beautifully powerful integrated graphics (yes, I know that's kind of an oxymoron, but allow me to explain) which have allowed me to get an average of 25 fps on Left4Dead. This of course only applies to online games, as the processor in the netbook...

Uhh... The batter isn't recognized by any Linux distributions (yet)? I dunno, not really much to say about it negatively... Oh, ok, the webcam doesn't have a light to let you know it's on, and has a low refresh rate, but I'm ok with that.
