The Asus A53E-XA2 budget laptop sports an Intel Core i5 processor, strong battery life, and a pretty cool design.
Intel Core i5 CPU provides strong performance. Solid battery life. Scratch-resistant finish.
Light on features. Awkwardly placed power connector.

A compact, sturdy laptop- good enough for surfing, email, & general internet things...The 6 GB RAM helps keep it on par with my activities
Generally good, but I have a need for more speed

See cons. It is tough to recommend it knowing that it will die at some point.
1. Price ; 2. Speed: i7 Quadcore ; 3. Discrete graphics card ; 4. 6 GB of RAM ; 5. HMDI out, USB 3.0 ; 6. Biggest bang for the buck for an amazing machine ; 7. ....while I had it, it was a great machine
1. Died on me after exactly 2 years and 3 months. The charger stopper working. This is a known issue with this model of ASUS. The problem is that the DC jack stops working internally. The DC jack is part of the motherboard (not a discrete part that can...

Great while it worked
I've had nothing but problems with this computer. As soon as the one year warranty expired I began having power issues. I contact ASUS support and I was advised that the motherboard had to be replaced and the process would cost almost $300 total. I...

I tried really hard to take good care of this laptop. I didn't drop it, bang it really hard, or just generally abuse it. I was severely disappointed when the power jack on the motherboard starting losing connectivity. For a good five months, I had to...
It was great for the first year. I didn't have any performance issues, but I wasn't trying to run games or video editing. Would have been a great laptop if it lasted
The power jack on the mother board starting losing connectivity after a year, meaning I had to put the power plug at weird angles to get it to charge. I tried soldering a new one on, but ended up breaking the motherboard (my fault) ; The power jack on...
