Asus N55

The N55 is a perfectly capable, middle-of-the-road laptop that's hard to find fault with it.

A decent helping of USB ports ; Good graphical performance

Poor sound for something that's meant to be sonically superior

The N55 is a perfectly capable, middle-of-the-road laptop that's hard to find fault with it. Now if we could just sort out that attenuating volume business...

Monster Deal - was on refurb sale

Too bad this model is out of stock, I would buy it again even if just for a yestertech everyday low-load laptop

The price was amazing $350 refurbed since it was an older model at the time of my purchhase - Lots of ram, I5 cpu, 500GB HD, what wasn't to love? - I use it to run VMs.

- I upgraded it to Windows 10 after holding out for a while, WIn10 seems not to be a happy OS yet.

Good rig

Got me through college.

This is a good machine that has lasted me for years. Solid construction, easy to use.

One minor glitch when it was new. I could not create a new windows folder. I got that worked out with one conversation with tech support.

Failure prone

This laptop is no longer available. But I would/could not recommended purchasing an ASUS computer

Looks good Light

Critical HW/SW flaw required factory repair less than 60 days after first operations. A big hassle. Now, six months out of warranty, laptop ceased charging the battery. ASUS asked for $500 to replace motherboard. $500 will instead be applied to another...

Lemon finally expired

When it worked, it worked well enough for my purposes.

Frequent application crashes (browser, skype, file explorer, all at the same time). Either a bad driver or shoverware, but could never identify the cause after uninstalling and disabling junk. And now two and a half years after owning it, it died....

No loss of business

Picked up box, opened box and just put it in the box, loaded Ubuntu and finished connecting mobo wires and USB while it installed. That took no more than 3 hours. Board had no issues but so many options packed so small

Tight fit putting front panel and usb connectors NOAA's with Asus, pay for the extra stuff

GARGABE

Don't buy anything from asus

nothing. It's a standard motherboard

It works great if you can get one that last for more than a year. I got 2 replacements now and they both quit out after one day of use

Dead After A Year Of Random Shutdowns

There is a bad batch of these in circulation. You are buying this at risk.

USB 3.0, fairly fast, plenty of usb ports, stable when it works

Bought this in March 2013. I had problems with this board just randomly shutting down. Very Intermittent. Almost daily after about six months. I am not sure why I kept it. I thought it might have been an issue with my power supply at one point. It was...

Works Good

Haven't done a build in years and was looking for something inexpensive to replace my old laptop. Using it now for software development and works great. No regrets purchasing this board.

Everything works as expected. Price was good. Easy to set up
