Asus V6J with Core 2 Duo Review (pics, specs)

The V6J series notebook by Asus is the most recent incarnation of the V6V.  Both of these notebooks are in the thin and light category.  Both are built for style.  The clean lines of the design mixed with brushed aluminum and polycarbonate material,...

It is super stylish ; The screen is bright ; Loads of inputs/outputs ; Digital sound ; Good balance of weight and durability ; Mostly good sowftware

No widescreen ; No fingerprint reader ; HD gets moderately warm ; Mediocre battery life ; Power4gear is useless

I used SuperPpi to calculate pi to 2 million places.  With 47 processes running in normal performance this machine calculated Pi faster than any other machine I have seen in this class

ASUS has been a leading manufacturer for many PC related products, as well as in the notebook arena. Recently, I needed to buy a new notebook since my old one broke down. I did my usual research, looking over many different manufacturers and models,...

Other features like the 1.3Megapixel web cam, built-in speakers should be thought of as basic features. Professional users will probably want to change the built-in HDD (Fujitsu 100GB 4200rpm) with something faster to get a performance boost.

The ASUS V6J is a reasonably compact thin-and-light notebook that has the added bonus of being quite powerful as well.

Great performance ; Good battery life ; Thin and light ; Comfortable full-size keyboard and touch pad ; Attractive design ; 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and InfraRed all supported

Ports placed on the right of the chassis could impede on external mouse users ; No S-Video ; No instant-on feature ; No multimedia quick-launch buttons

The ASUS V6J is a reasonably compact thin-and-light notebook that has the added bonus of being quite powerful as well. There were some aspects that we disliked, but none were deal breakers and don't take much away from this impressive product.
