Important Instructions for 64bit users!

For everyone who is confused. This is a 32bit AND 64bit laptop. I know it sounds wierd, but here is the scoop. If you hit the top power button closest to the screen it will boot with 4096mb or 4gig of ram. It starts up with a animatied logo. To boot...

Nice laptop

Wish this laptop was available with XP Pro.

Great components for the price (much less than other high end laptop makers would sell it for trust me I compared them all.)

My laptop has pretty bad backlight bleeding that is a bit annoying when looking at the desktop. Not very noticeable when gaming or websurfing

Good-bye DELL

I bought a 160 Gig Hitachi 7200 hard drive for it. Transferred the data with Apricorn EZ UP. Tested the temp and it isn't but 2 degrees higher. The 7200 HD makes a worthwhile difference.

Excellent 1080 Screen. I can't think of any problems. I'm using Vista Ultimate

Documentation is only fair. Some programs have to be re-downloaded for Vista Ultimate but no problem. When installing don't for get to get the other disk and install the drivers for the little things

Another 5 for Asus

For all you cats who are wondering, it is VISTA ULTIMATE 64BIT. I have seen many children fighting over weither or not they can see the 4th gig, you can. It is pre-service pack 1.

1900x1200 and an 8700 to back-it up. Vista Ultimate 64bit (see other) Solid design, Excellent software, and superb processor. The mouse is the best on the market. Mine came with a backpack, but it no longer shows the backpack in the picture, so just be...

Micky mouse cable, (outlet to power brick cable), is short, not a problem just pick another up for a dollar. After I installed Vista sp1 some things went a-rye. Not Asus's fault though, just don't install it. (64bit services do not like some of the new...

You get what u pay. Whit this PC u get no less than 2k completion

Overall good PC

Good, not great weakest point is 1 HDD which makes PC dramatically slower than 2x HDD in raid 0(when 2 HDDs do the 1 job together- OS loading, writing reading copying and ETC) Also there's available 7200 RPM HDDs

Totally worth it!

Asus always includes a mouse and a case with its stuff.

8700 - soooo much faster than the 8600, you won't believe it

Asus still can't get a laptop with good battery life... but hey, what do you expect from a 17" with an 8700, the biggest power drain available (the 8800m is more power efficient)

Like the pc, dont trust the brand

I think this is a grat machine but I dont trust the brand. I own an asus motherboard which is rock solid. However I bought an a8jp just over a year ago that is now broken. After doing some disection it seems a grounding clip broke loose inside the...

4GB in Vista Home

Ok, compare to the G2S B1 this laptop is way over priced. Ok, 100Mhz faster, 4GB instead of 2GB and 320GB instead of 200GB and last the graphic card is 512MB vs 256MB. These upgrades won't give you a noticeable boost compared to you spending the extra...

Overall excellent laptop

Price, 5400RPM

@5400rpm

just fyi at this size of a hdd in a laptop 5400rpm is the fastest possible, u would have to drop down to a 200gb hdd to get 7200rpm
