Review Asus G55VW-S1020V Notebook

Ivy Bridge meets Kepler. The latest revision of Asus' popular 15.6-inch Republic of Gamers laptop, now known as the G55VW, is large and heavy enough to belong in the desktop replacement category. However, this tradeoff in weight is compensated by an...

Very Quiet for a Gaming Laptop, Amazing Cooling Solution, Good Keyboard/Trackpad Combo, 4x USB 3.0 Ports, The new and improved design. The fact that the 15.6-inch Republic of Gamers laptop is still the most silent-running gaming laptop on the market....

Very Heavy, No SSD, Large for a 15.6" Laptop, A lower weight, perhaps by using lighter materials. The large frame around the display feels outdated

Great laptop.

HUGE power brick. Honestly, the sound, for a laptop is better than average. The feel of the keyboard (which I normally hate on most laptops) is very well. The touch pad really is horrible in Windows 8 for me, but in Linux it's just fine. As far as...

FAST! Great performance on games as well as other things. The mechanical HDD is quick. Excellent screen, soft to the eyes. Awesome keyboard lay out. Excellent cooling design (doesn't get hot on me yet, I've had it 5 weeks in a DUSTY area). Back lit...

OK so I have a problem with these things, which together lose an egg. 1 HDD bay and 2 memory slots are all you have access to. If you want to get to the mSATA slot and the other 2 memory slots, you have to take apart the laptop almost completely (VOIDS...

DO NOT BUY ASUS

Do NOT buy asus. I fear my personal information is compromised and they have had my unit for 28 days. I'm lucky newegg took the time to accept my return/exchange request, but I fear I may not get it to them in time because asus staff refuses to assist.

Graphics card is nice

Faulty hardware, terrible RMA support, customer support insults you, repair crew attempts to access personal accounts through your RMA'd unit ; DO NOT PURCHASE ASUS PRODUCTS

Great high performance laptop. Runs Linux Well

All of the connection ports are on the side of the laptop, which means that any USB cables will be sticking out to the left and right. Not a huge issue if you are docking it on your desk and using an external keyboard and mouse, but might be an issue...

The first thing I did with this laptop was create all the necessary Window backup disks. The second thing I did was install Ubuntu Linux. Everything worked right out of the gate. I am able to play a variety of Humble Bundle games with no Issues....

No real cons here

Defective

I have searched the internet for other people experiencing what I am. There appears to be a select amount of individuals who have high temperatures and low performance from their GTX 660M, whether the laptop be ASUS, Lenovo, or otherwise. This really...

Great specifications and matte screen, runs silently, and great design

The graphics processor is defective, and have sent it back to Newegg for an RMA to no avail. They ran their benchmarks and told me that it was running under "normal" conditions, and that the problem was on my end - that incompatible software or a virus...

Initial Purchase Review

As I said in cons I have just purchased this beast so I don't have much to say yet however The First review the one that gives the 1 egg. Obviously must be Trolling from the other reviews alone he is the only one to get the defective models? Worse yet...

Intel Core i7 initial clocked at 2.3 GHz turbo boost brings it to 3.3 GHz ; Nvidia Geforce GTX 660m 2gig's of dedicated vram This Kepler-based GPU has 384 Unified Core pipelines clocked at 835 MHz per core ; It's memory speed is clocked at 2000 MHz ;...

Seeing as I have just purchased it but haven't received it yet I have no cons for this review yet

Seagate?... Really?

ASUS, your one of the best... so use the best hardware, not seagarbage.

Great laptop, beautiful design, beautiful full HD screen. Nice and lightweight, i can carry it with 1 hand. I love the backlit keyboard, works well in the dark server room. Very quick and very responsive

Used it for about a week. Random BSOD... restarted... instant BSOD at windows every time. Popped the HDD cover open... Seagate?! Really?! Lost a little bit of respect for ASUS today. I would expect the best (WD) from them but guess not. So I ran the...

Sleek and Simple

I am going to be moving to Japan for a year and needed both a portable laptop and a desktop to game on. This computer fills both tasks with out any issues what so ever.

Speed- The 3610 intel processor in this laptop makes it both a fantastic gaming computer and great for multi tasking. I am a college student and tend to multi task a great deal. The graphics processor is fantastic as a 660m would be expected and all...

Weight, It weights about twice of what my old Toshiba weighed but with the features and design of this laptop I gladly accept it
