Review Asus G73JH (ATI HD 5870) Gaming Notebook

The hyper-gamer? Asus is making a completely fresh start with the

Attractive design; Matt surfaces; Good workmanship; Operates quietly; Remains cool; Bright display with vivid colours; Large touchpad; Keyboard backlighting; Very good application performance; Excellent gaming performance; Impressive sound quality

No eSATA, Firewire or ExpressCard slot; Reflective screen with limited viewing angles; High black level and poor contrast ratio; Spongy keyboard which flexes slightly

Powerful and DirectX 11 capable gaming notebooks with the Radeon HD 5870, such as the Deviltech Devil 9700 DTX, the Fragbook DTX, the Cyber-System Si17/Si15, the mySN XMG7.c/XMG6, the Notebookguru Fire i7/Storm i7 or the Hawkforce GameForce M17G/M15G.

This aggressively priced, stealth fighter-inspired rig will plow through any game you throw at it.

While it doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as the Alienware M17x, the ASUS G73Jh-A2 delivers tremendous power—and good looks to match—for much, much less. It’s a great choice for gamers and multimedia mavens who demand more muscle than a...

Asus G73Jh-A2

Real gamers hate marketers' lures. Those suits ambush gamers with branded drinks, razors, and PCs. Just create great products instead of selling extreme attitude and garish designs. The ASUS ROG G73Jh-A2 will impress the authentic gaming crowd as a...

Big screen delivers good color ; Blazing specs push the latest apps

Battery life is slightly too short ; Lacks Blu-ray drive

You don't have to be a gamer to enjoy the great speed and good-looking screen on the G73Jh.

Asus G73JH-RBBX05 review:

Editors' note: This review is part of our spring 2010 retail laptop and desktop roundup , which covers specific fixed configurations of popular systems found in retail stores.

Excellent performance; nicely configured for its cost.

Smallish keyboard for the laptop's size; no discrete media controls; massive power supply; basic port assortment.

Other than some niggling design complaints, the Asus G73JH-RBBX05 is an excellent, well-priced, high-performance desktop replacement for gaming or other demanding tasks.

Great hardware. Thoughtful features. A design that will stop opponents cold

No Blu-ray. 1,920 by 1,080 resolution not available

The Asus G73JH-BST7 laptop has the hardware where it counts, and packages it all in a design that was clearly created with the serious gamer in mind. For the price, it's a powerful machine.

Asus G73Jh Gaming Notebook Review

Earlier this year, we attended the Asus 2010 CES Event in Las Vegas. While there, we caught a glimpse of several upcoming notebooks the hardware giant had in store. One of the most anticipated products we saw was in the Republic of Gamers line up....

Fantastic Gaming Performance ; Strong Core i7 quad-core CPU ; Fast 5870 graphics card ; Excellent design ; Good value

Short battery life ; No Blu-ray playback software ; SSD option would be nice

Keep in mind, while looking at our benchmarks that we ran every game with every setting maxed out to see how well the G73 could handle them. Ideally, it would have ran through every test without a hiccup, but that wasn't always the case. Our benchmarks...
