Gaming? Uh, don't.

Plain and simple. Just get a laptop for a little more money and make SURE there is a SSD. For some reason, this hard drive is just pure garbage. A few months after I got the laptop back from repair I again started having some issues. Nowhere near as...

-ASUS' reputation for great customer support is well warranted. They took the laptop back and replaced everything broken and sent it back to me within a week. Phone staff is very helpful. -The keyboard is nice.

Where to begin...First off, if you are a semi-serious gamer and were looking for a gaming laptop for a mid-tier price then I would recommend selling something, waiting a few months, or whatever you need to do to just spend the extra few hundred dollars...

Buy another product

I bought this for my wife in June 2014 and in November 2015 she started having problems with it. When trying to power on, the drive spins but no screen action. Sometimes when we held it upside down it would start. Sometimes it took 45 just to get it to...

-Good for gaming

-Hard drive dead after a year -Slow start up

Sending back for a refund or replacement....

I would not suggest this to anyone until it is 100% virus free guaranteed when shipped to customer, but otherwise it ran smoothly before the virus with web browsing and such. Being refurbished I can kinda see now why it was low on FPS gaming wise..

It was fast at first, booted up quickly as expected, and the air vents and fans worked perfectly, making little noise when gaming even after extending periods of time. I didn't use the touch pad much but it worked nicely when I did, very responsive.

Low frame rate, and terrible specs. I had gone from 5FPS on my old laptop to 20 on this laptop when I first got it. It was a marvelous upgrade FPS wise, considering that the old laptop was not suited for gaming in the first place. But 20FPS is...

Update

Replacing the included HDD with an SSD, and reverting to Win Pro 7/64 is not for the faint-hearted. And who in the world equips a "gaming laptop" with a 5400RPM HDD? But the results, now the conversion to the SSD and Win Pro 7/64 is done, are...

Fast, solid, a great value. With work, perseverance, and patience (and an SSD with Win7, this becomes a fantastic laptop

Ups and Downs

Two different Win 7 source DVDs stalled at the same spot; this was finally resolved by a BIOS change, undocumented. Had to download Win 7 drivers

Beautiful screen/video. ASUS ROG-worthy appearance. Great ergonomics. Two drive bays; RAID supported in BIOS.

No documentation nor recovery disks. Came with wretched Win 8.1, made worse by 5400 RPM drive. Installing an SSD and Win 7 Pro/64 a chore, due to lack of documentation (solution found online). BIOS has very sparse features. Drivers hidden in installed...

Good buy *BUT BE WARNED*

All in all, its a great buy! Get a zippy ssd for that 15 sec boot time and a few DDR3L memory chips to maximize capability. Would buy again.

Obviously WAY cheaper than new, easy to use "out of box" performance machine. Initial memory and ssd upgrades fairly easy. MUCH quieter than the last line of Asus machines. You cant even hear it when its on. The monitor is also sharper and the speaker...

*BE WARNED* Under specs the required memory is listed as DDR3. This is incorrect! The actual required memory for upgrading is DDR3L (meaning low-profile) If you buy the standard sized memory, it will not fit! I found that out the hard way, but Newegg...

DEAD ON ARRIVAL

I see that a response was written to a previous one star reviewer from ASUS Customer care and I will address this. To state that ASUS has stringent recertifcation and refurbishment policies is highly doubtful! If my ROG had even been turned on briefly...

New Egg Customer Service. They are GREAT and take care of their Customers.

My ROG was DOA. Let it charge from 4:00 yesterday until today. DEAD. Battery light red. Rang ASUS Customer Care first to see if the problem could be resolved. I will not bore you with the obvious attempts. ASUS Customer Care person had me give them my...

My best Laptop EVER

So this probably sounds like a fan boy review but IT IS NOT! This is my first Asus notebook, I am retired and live on a fixed income so this is a big expense for me, I set a budget of $1150 and I am over by $13 if I get the $50 rebate. If this thing...

Expandability: This has to be the biggest plus for this machine. I ran it almost full time for a week running games, editing and playing movies ( the movies ran overnight playing 10 gig mkv bluray rips over the wireless network. It never overheated,...

These are not really cons but are something to be aware of if you buy one. The drive had over 2100 hours on it but it had only been powered up 54 times. I guess that does not seem like a lot but it does seem strange to me. I know these are recertified...
