Asus G75VW-DS71

The Asus G75VW-DS71 is a gaming laptop that captivates your attention the instant you take it out of the box. It's branded with Asus' Republic of Gamers logo, so you know it's aimed at the gamer audience. It has impressive hardware—a quad-core...

Large 1080p screen. Lots of storage space. Strong multimedia performance. Equipped with Blu-ray drive, four USB 3.0 ports. Includes numeric keypad

Can't play games well on full settings at native resolution. Large. Heavy. Mini DisplayPort, not Thunderbolt. Only 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi

The Asus G75VW-DS71 is nicely priced for a midrange gaming laptop, and it works as a multimedia behemoth. But it starts to wheeze when taxed with high resolution and detail settings. Think of it as a part-time gaming rig.

Asus G75VW-DS71

When it comes to gaming laptops, most people think of Alienware and Origin as the prime providers of high-end, high-performance, high-cost PC hardware. There are other players in the field, however; Asus has made its own gaming laptop under the...

The Asus G75VW-AS71 has a cutting-edge processor, a new Nvidia GPU, a slightly thinned-down body, a matte antiglare screen, and faster ports and connections than its predecessor, including tons of USB 3.0 ports and Thunderbolt.

This laptop's still not cheap; it may not be $2,000, but it's far more expensive than the average laptop. And, let's face it: this machine's still a boat. Also, in performance it lags behind more powerful gaming laptops like the Origin EON17-S.

If you want to buy a "budget" gaming laptop, the Asus G75VW-AS71 offers plenty of horsepower and features in its heavy 17-inch body. Just don't expect anything svelte -- or good battery life.

Asus G75VW-DS71

The Asus G75VW-DS71 pulls off a rare feat: It's a massive gaming laptop without the massive price. For a reasonable $1,799, this 17.3-inch rig delivers one of Intel's new third-generation (a.k.a. Ivy Bridge) processors, the quad-core Core i7-3610QM,...

Aggressively priced for the components inside ; Cutting-edge parts selection ; Impressive performance ; Quiet operation

Hefty, even for a 17-inch laptop ; Webcam software setup is confusing

Big and powerful, quiet and affordable, the Asus G75VW-DS71 is a gaming laptop with a value proposition worthy of your attention.

Fast. Shipped within the days advertised. Reliable and responsive. Replied to email within the next day. Don't judge ABE'S of MAINE on its past review. I was worried, but now there's no doubt.

Good Laptop

I had done my research, and I knew ASUS was a good machine from a reputable company - so there was no surprise there. The computer was packed well, and I have been using it for a few weeks and everything works as expected. The only thing I wish I would...

This laptop has a good foundation, the only real problem with it is the bloatware that ASUS puts on it, and how it seems to be in bed with MS as well as McAfee. No install CD, only the disk image that comes with the computer, and McAfee Security Suite...
