Bloatware is very bad

By brucek (newegg.com) Read the full review

Fast video, large drive, good processor. 64-bit Windows 7. Nice screen

All the included programs are an absolute nightmare. They crash windows, don't uninstall cleanly, and make themselves a royal pain. Why on earth do manufacturers do this to their customers? A plain old install of Windows would be far preferable and...

The Perfect Gift

By Juice (newegg.com) Read the full review

They have a 64 bit installed BUT it comes with both the 64 bit and 32 disks so I believe you can wipe windows and install the 32 bit if you want. These are recovery disks (so im not 100% percent sure), so im not making any promises.

Plays everything and more than what I wanted it to. Plays CoD4, L4D, TF2, all of med-high settings. Definatly worth it for what it provides. Its got a webcam, and a hidden microphone that I was surprise to find after a game of L4D

Im not used to the touchpad, so I went out and bought a USB mouse, specally for the games to play. Speakers are too quite, had to go buy a little set of speakers for it. It is a finger print magnet but a damp cloth rids of them. Lots of Bloatware to...

Newegg customer service deserves a 6th egg! Bought the laptop just hours before it went on sale and they gave me the sale price at $599 early DEC 09! Despite the cons I listed, I'm very happy with this laptop. It is the perfect "upper middle class"...

Cheap, dual core is fast, dedicated 512 meg Video card is good quality and fast, windows 7, large hard drive, 4 gigs ram, fast enough to play decent games at decent settings. Power adjustability is primo, can easily adjust screen brightness and...

Webcam is sad. Ok, not great, quality. Very slow FPS video capability. Speaker volume is very weak, even at full blast. Battery life is pathetic. At full settings and screen brightness with adverage use, you might get 1 hour out of the battery. At...

Asus K50AB

By Craig Simms (cnet.com.au)

Looks and feels upmarket for the price ; Multi-touch touchpad in entry-level machine

Low battery life ; No Bluetooth

The K50AB is a typical mid-range laptop that looks good, but the in-built GPU-switching feature doesn't save on battery at all. We'd suggest looking elsewhere for your mid-range needs.

Don't believe the 6 hour battery claims

Asus advertise a 6 hour battery life. Don't believe this. It is more like a normal 2.5 hour battery life fairly typical for this class of computer. Th
