Buyer Beware

I bought one of these for my elderly mother, who only does word processing and web surfing. She had to have it repaired twice before it died after about 1 year and 5 months of light use the motherboard shorted out. I won't be buying any more Asus laptops.

Worked well for about 4 months

Great Price - Keyboard Issues though

Price was fantastic and the machine runs very well on the Windows 8 platform. Was able to handle multiple applications seamlessly

Certain keys on the keyboard have stopped working (C and R) which I find quite random. Have heard zero from ASUS support about options to repair so using workarounds for now

Very good machines

The machines is perfect.

Cheap price and come with warranty

just a bit heavy, but what do you expect a 15.6" screen. one more thing the Window 8 is make you buy a touch screen notebook is easier to operate

4 Months of use

I have own quite a few of ASUS products. From laptops, motherboards and graphics cards. This is the first time I encountered a problem with their products. Time to test their costumer support.

Very competitive pricing

First there was an update issue.. As soon I turned the laptop ON there was a Windows 8 and ASUS software update (ALL THE TIME) ; After 4 months of using this laptop the screen went black. I CANT DO ANYTHING. I TRIED THE FN KEYS, ECS, ALT-CTRL-DEL but...

I have never had this kind of a problem with ASUS before.

Bought two of these for our office ; Generally good. Nice design good speed

Out of the box have been unable to burn backup dvd's, or anything else ; ASUS support worthless so far

Great Laptop for the price

I cannot blame Asus for putting windows 8 on this laptop for that is only the fault of microsoft pushing new operating systems onto companies and pretty much forcing all new computers to use the new OS. Remember how hard it was to find an XP computer...

This laptop has much more than you would expect at this price tag such as a large hard drive, 6gb of ram, and even an awesome i5 processor. I am able to run most of the games that I would play on this and this is the only laptop that I have owned which...

The biggest cons with this laptop are Windows 8 and the Asus preinstalled software. Windows 8 is a beast of its own and it has many problems that have not been fixed yet so this may someday be an alright operating system. As for the Asus software I had...

So far we are very satisfied with this purchase.

excellent buy for the price. Works out of the box and is a very nice laptop

pre installed with Win8 ; The scroll on the touch pad is a bit odd. Have to use 2 fingers to slide and sometimes my wife can't get it to work

got it for only $480 and worth every penny

for the price I got thanks to cyber monday this is a great laptop. Runs very smoothly. I tried downloading games like skyrim and GW2 and although they run at low quality, the games run flawless

Although I haven't seen anyone post about this i'm going to say that my space bar does not want to work all the time and it is a pain. Track pad is a little confusing considering some clicks can respond to different ways

awesome laptop not awesome win8

would buy again I just wish they had given it with win7 and u had the option to upgrade to win8

definitely good hardware for the money and its relatively fast for being a laptop

Windows 8 should be an option I'm not sure why they changed it so much from win7, which was a great OS. the win8 seems like its made for a tablet or a touch screen CPU not for a laptop with scroll pad and its highly annoying when the stupid app page...

Great for Money

Works fine right out of box, very little bloatware and easily removed. Great price point for i5 Ivy Bridge processor with solid notebook model. Probably need to upgrade to SSD soon, but works fine in meantime.

Fast, sleek, good keyboard, good screen, solid feel, light, cool
