Great budget gaming laptop

This is a great laptop for the price. I got it for my wife to use while was on bed rest and I've been using it since then for gaming on lunch breaks at work. No, it's not going to play current games maxed out, but I can pay Skyrim on medium-high, FFXIV...

Every once in a while it will lock up, but not very often. The HDD is slow and it gets real bogged down when I have a game and Android studio running. The OS image isn't the best and you'd be better off with a clean install of windows 7 or 8

Just ok

Had to downgrade to windows 7 after the first day of ownership. Wi"thin a month I noticed that the wifi range slowly started to diminish. (I can be right next to my router and I get "fair" reception quality.) Had to go out and buy a external usb wifi...

Good specs, usb 3.0, and good enough for an no frills budget laptop

Windows 8, wifi range has diminished, usb 3.0 ports sometimes do not work

Skip it.

If I had known about the touchpad issue, I would've skipped this and gone with a different laptop. Seriously, this is unacceptable. My previous ASUS from -2009- can do this. Why would they REMOVE functionality from future models? It makes no sense, and...

Inexpensive ; Has dedicated graphics card, so can play games/movies/etc ; No scratches or dents ; Runs quickly

Comes installed with Windows 8. Get rid of it ; Came with viruses ; My biggest gripe, however, is that you CANNOT configure the touchpad to have a gesture to middle mouse click. Meaning no scroll wheel, no open link in new tab button, nothing. No...

Pretty decent

All in all I'm quite satisfied with this little laptop. Needed something temporary to tide me over on the mobile front. Desktop is plenty powerful as it is and haswell is right around the corner. If I'm honest though, I may not pick up another one if...

Quad Core APU. Highly up-gradable. Fantastic Linux machine. Runs Mint Nadia Cinnamon like a boss. First thing I did was pop it open and swap out the HD for a spare 32gig adata SSD I had from an older machine. Killing secure boot took a min to figure...

Windows 8 / Secure boot is 1 of the most masochistic experiences ever. Getting used to it wouldn't be hard and I can see how it is even better in some ways but the annoyance of it is enough to put a bad taste in 1's mouth. Touchpad can be a touch flaky...

Good laptop

Good CPU and GPU Performance. for a $399 gaming laptop you get more than what you paid for. I had a previous ASUS laptop and was skeptical on getting another one but for the price and features you do get alot ; I seen this thing play Farcry 3 on low...

Windows 8 is the only con, buggy wi-fi doesn't work and it is a bug with Windows 8 not the laptop. it connects to a network then hangs after a couple of minutes. not a hardware problem ; I'm building a Win 7 gaming desktop so I'm using this laptop for...

Adjusted Rating

Found the refresh for reinstalling WIndows 8. The second time was a charm... OS working much better than earlier.

Good price, value ok, quality on the edge of good

Bad install of Windows 8, caused a lot of grief

Junk from WIndows

Price is great. Light weight. Screen seems ok

Windows 8 install is junk. Cannot get the Windows Store to work (press icon and nothing), can't change PC settings (that screen will not come up), no way to refresh (says issue with license). No icons for weather, music, travel, news and sports and I...

Works well with Linux, great value

Bought this as other reviewers said the were able to get Linux installed with only minor issues. I was not disappointed after getting past the Secure Boot I loaded OpenSuSe 12.3 and all the built in hardware seems to work without issue. Heres a brief...

High End GPU through use of an AMD A8 APU as the processor ; Fast multi-core processing ; Good Display with decent resolution ; Nice full size Keyboard with space between keys ; Nice Styling ; Works well with Linux after you get past secure boot ; Good...

Winblows 8 preload ; Secure Boot BIOS ; Display is slightly reflective, I prefer anti-reflective displays ; Display Viewing angle not the best but as good as most laptops ; Battery life not great but probably about average

bang for your buck

For the price you can't get better. I was trying to stay away from the ultra low powered CPUs such as the Atom and the E series APUs, and those run in a similar price range to this. Some might suggest spending a little more to get the i5, but I would...

Bought this as a gift for my sister, she couldn't be happier. The Trinity APU, while not as powerful of a CPU as the i5 or the i7 in terms of IPC, still packs enough of a wallop for what people use their computers for in the everyday sense. She doesn't...

Not too many cons here. Windows 8 would probably be the biggest, but honestly you can't judge a laptop by its OS. Also, Win8 isn't all that bad once you learn how to work around the Metro part of it. Microsoft is releasing "Blue" in the near future,...

A really good bang for your buck!

The reason this laptop caught my eye was mainly cause of the Quad Core that it says it has. It's actually an amazing laptop for the price. (compared to others from other retail stores and such) The only problem I had with it starting out was the Fn...

good sleek computer ; great light gaming computer (it runs Team fortress 2 and Portal 2 like a charm)

windows 8 (Still not a fan but honestly it's nothing really of a Con, it just takes time to get used too) ; The Fn button that you need to activate the F1-F12 buttons. (i'm used to just having to push them on my previous laptop)
