Good Value

I found these reviews so helpful while I was shopping that I felt compelled to write a review myself. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. 95% of my computer use is for browsing internet or spreadsheet/word processing applications, although I do watch an occasional movie. So far, there has been nothing that this computer could not handle (it is very fast). The quick boot time (26 seconds to password prompt) is nice. The laptop runs cool and I've never overheated. The LED light indicating whether integrated graphics or the Nvidia card is being used is nice. The keyboard is a good size and works smoothly. I would prefer a full size number pad instead of the skinny keys. The touch pad takes some getting used to when typing, I find that sometimes I inadverdantly change the location of the cursor with my palm while I'm typing. I wanted something that could potentially handle 3D building modeling programs (i.e. Revit) and I thought the expandability to 16 GB RAM, along with the high-mid range graphics card and the core i7 would allow decent performance, although I have not yet had the opportunity to test with BIM. There are two things that have disappointed me. Apparently the hands-free bluetooth feature will not operate while the wireless LAN is operating. The other problem-which could be potentially serious-is that the screen will sometimes flash on and off while on battery power. So far this has just been annoying and I don't think it's worth returning the laptop for. The two-year warranty makes me a little more comfortable with the situation.

Review Asus N53SV Notebook

The new midrange. Asus promises pure multimedia entertainment wit

Attractive design; Matt, high-end surfaces; Solid case; Excellent application performance; Good 3D performance; Always cool surfaces; Low noise office mode possible; Excellent soundscape

Interfaces all in the front area; Spongy keys; Average display with reflective surface; Moderate battery life

Basically everything that calls itself a strong 15 inch multimedia notebook. Most existing candidates don't really have a chance of even coming close without Sandy Bridge. Soonest, machines like the Sony F13Z or the Dell XPS 15. Otherwise, you will...

Asus N53SV

Excellent performance ; Large display

Only single-band, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi ; Weak touchpad and buttons

If speed is your passion, you'll like this all-purpose unit from Asus, but its input ergonomics are weak.

Great laptop

Very nice resolution for 15.6" screen ; 1gb gt 540 nvidia gfx ; Great for simple server running/ testing locally ; Example.. Microsoft visual studio 2010 ; Was shipped on time no problems with any hardware nor software ; Runs ; Borderlands 2 on high...

There are no cons for me so far ; Though with all laptops and computers try to keep the ventilation clear because running high settings will heat up fast

Great laptop.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas last year. Yanked the HD out and put an SSD in it. Upgraded the ram to 16GB (I know, overkill). . I had my own Win7x64 home dvd, so I did a clean fresh install (using the key that came with the laptop). Popped...

Sexy ; Comes with drivers and utilities disk ; Killer battery life ; Ram upgradable to 16 GB ; Wireless works awesome ; Nice keypad ; Fingerprint resistant surfaces

I honestly can't think of any

ASUS N53SV-EH71

Very fast. Good GPU. Good for gaming and school work

I have had several issues with the laptop ; 1. The laptop freezes a lot. I've had it for about a week now and I already had to force shut down/restart about 10 times ; 2. Sometimes the sound just stops working randomly while browsing the internet. I...

Great Laptop!

I got this for $750 on Newegg a couple months ago and it's been great! The other reviewer doesn't even own this lappy so he probably shouldn't be saying anything about it. Yeah, the display is just fair, but this is a great little machine that runs...

Core I7, GT540 video card, great battery life, runs cool, excellent build quality, 7200rpm HDD, value

Display not great, speakers fair

Mediocre Screen

There are four primary versions of the ASUS N53 that have the 1366x768 display, and they are the N53SV-DH71, N53SV-EH71, N53SN-EH71, and N53SM-DS71. It would be recommended that you instead consider the N53SV-DH72, N53SV-EH72, N53SV-DH51, N53SM-ES71,...

Aside from the rather poor display, the performance is decent for someone who wants a mid-range gaming-capable laptop

The biggest issue with this laptop is the display. Instead of a 15.6" 1920x1080 display like many other ASUS N53 models have, it has a 15.6" 1366x768 display ; 15.6" 1366x768 displays limit multitasking and productivity by making things onscreen large,...

Worked fine.......then started freezing up

Im fairly disappointed with the performance after a month. At first the price was great and it ran flawlessly, now i wish I paid a lot less with the performance I'm getting.

This machine was great starting out. Ran World of Warcraft flawlessly and everything instantly would pop up on the desktop in almost no time at all. Blu-ray drive is great, the Nvidia 540m looks awesome, and the overclocking is nice

For some reason after a couple weeks, this machine started freezing up and lagging extremely hard out of nowhere even though it started out great. all of the drivers are up to date, idk whats wrong with it
