Review Asus Q500A-BHI7T05 Notebook

Quality on a budget. The entry-level category is filled with nume

Very good build quality and brushed aluminum construction for the price; Great CPU performance with no throttling; Keyboard backlight on a budget notebook; Bright glossy screen for indoor use; Large responsive touchpad; Easily accessible HDD, RAM, and...

Fingerprint magnet with hard to clean surfaces; Very difficult to use under sunlight; Ports may be too close up front; sd reader difficult to access; Poor speaker quality; Slightly on the heavy side; Inaccurate pre-calibrated colors; Arrow keys and...

Great design and chassis, very fast CPU performance and even a backlit keyboard on a budget notebook.

Still running today with no problems.

It's cheap, reliable, and does what I purchased it for.

I was looking for an inexpensive web surfing laptop with a decent sized screen. It fitted the bill and has run with no problem for nearly two years at this point

It doesn't have enough CPU to do much beyond web surfing, but I knew that going in, so I wouldn't exactly call that a con

Piece of garbage, wireless doesn't work

Don't waste your money and time

Nice bright screen (before I smash this garbage into pieces). The look is good

The wireless is useless. It will work sometime and sometime not. Updating to latest drivers, reverting back the drivers, cold reboot, turn off network adapter power saving mode, tried different mode. Still not workimg. Finally, I retired iit completely...

Ya get what you pay for...

It looked new, unused

Took it out of the packaging, fired it up....nothing. Plugged in the supplied charge for 1/2 hour....nothing ; What di they refurbish? The Windows 8 label ; Clearly they never tried to boot this machine

Great Quality and Machine by Asus

Great materials, fantastic touch screen, and just an all out nice machine. Plus, my wife is happy :)

Windows 8.1 :). Had to undo a setting that Windows 8.1 performed when I upgraded the machine from Windows 8 to 8.1. The touchscreen became disabled because of a power setting. Annoying, but other than that, all is good

Great for the Price

Large, crisp display ; Decently powerful without breaking the bank ; Cool and quiet when running ; Sleek design

I would have marked the score higher (for now, seeing as this has been posted right after arrival) except that the DVD door doesn't close completely and feels extremely flimsy -- as though it can break at any minute. I know there were risks in getting...

Horrible Customer Service / Laptop Did Not Work

I thought price, screen, and the overall package was a great deal, but BOY WAS I WRONG ; I was able to turn it on and then it broke and wouldn't boot at all.. basically it was a brick with one led on

So the only con with the machine is the hard drive. buy an SSD and you'll be pumped. You might also want to consider a new wifi card if you care ; As for the other very important aspect of my order and the primary reason for my low rating was that the...

Only reason I didn't give it a 4 out of 5 is because Newegg let it sit as "packaging" for a week. I called and they said they would send another out within 48 hours with 1 day shipping. Three or four days later I check the new tracking number they gave...

Thin, lightweight, asus logo lights up, no optical drive

Would prefer to buy it without an OS

Awesome laptop!

Been using it for about 2 weeks now. I received the laptop new even though I noticed it said refurbished. I checked the life of the hard drive and it was only around 160 hours, so whoever used it only did for a week or so. It looked exactly brand-new,...

Fast and smooth ; Arrived new ; Awesome ; Excellent 1080p screen and really responsive slim touchscreen. It's not cheap like some HP, Acer, and Dell screens ; Great backlit effect on keyboard ; Love the metal feel of it (top and keyboard area and...

I don't like that Asus doesn't allow us to change volume, brightness, and other FN settings without pressing the FN button on the keyboard. Really annoying considering the fact that volume is on the right end of the keyboard instead of being around the...

Good notebook

You can use this with a Crucial M500. Boot the Win8 off the mechanical drive and immediately create a system recovery disk (File History in Control Panel) - use 16GB or better flash drive. You then need to go into the BIOS and disable secure boot, then...

As advertised below - nice processor, expandable RAM, ability to use any SSD (including Crucial M500) - laptop arrived with only 80 hours on the hard drive, screen is flawless

Shipping times may vary (2 weeks in my case) ; See below about keyboard idiosyncrasies - namely feedback which causes the touchpad to register a mouse click while typing and the key press noise; the former is definitely more of a problem than the latter
