Not Happy with Customer Support

The Blu-Ray drive not working was a minor problem and since I have had only one bad motherboard over the years from them I thought nothing of it. The fact that I have to pay to fix their problem, this has turned a minor problem I would have forgotton...

I like the unit and was very happy with it initially

Blu-Ray drive dead on arrival. DVD/CDs played with no problem. I called ASUS support and reinstalled drives ect. Finally they wanted me to send in the whole laptop. I have over 30 years experience in electronics/computers so I was positive what the...

Great Deal

It came with a rather nice carring bag with lot's of room to fit the laptop, a RJ45 Internet cable, Power adapter (with a nice long cord) and still have room for a Text book and Binder. Asus included a 2 year Accidently Damage Warranty with...

This is a great Laptop, with a powerful CPU, Lot's of ram, a powerful GPU and tons of storage. I bought this for school and I am sure I made the right choice. The dual-core CPU at 2.66Ghz gives a lot of power to multi-task and run several apps. I...

The Altec Lansing speakers are wimpy and don't have great output and due to their position (front of laptop angled under the wrist resting position) it makes hearing the low output volume worse. The Audio Out and SPDIF headphone jacks don't suffer from...

Power for the price

Left 4 dead runs smoothly with no AA or Anistropic filtering, but the texture quality and paged pool memory remain at high. Effect detail and shader quality have to be at medium, but that's to be expected.

Each piece of hardware is top quality ; The processor can handle most anything you need ; The screen size and it's resolution (16:9) at 1600 x 900 are perfect for size freaks ; The hard drive space is excellent, especially for 7200 RPM

The bloatware can be overcome, but with a little work ; The video card wasn't all I expected it to be, but mobile cards have a bigger difference than I anticipated

Nice Laptop

You can uninstall said bloatware though I shouldn't have to.

Very fast computer at a really good price. Large clean display ; for a laptop

Too much bloatware. I don't know why any of the software that comes installed on this computer is necessary or who thinks its a good idea. It hard to display the full power of the computer behind the mess of programs running in the background. It's...

Amazing

What else is there to say... *Vista is already installed you just have to add your username and some other information. *The bloatware is stupid but only a minor inconvenience. *The keys are a little different than a normal laptop keyboard but I...

I don't know where to start. The processor, the hard drive, the video card, the screen, and the memory are all amazing. I spent a lot of time looking for the best laptop and this is hands down the greatest one around for the price. The hard drive even...

I guess it is a little heavy and kind of big but what do you expect with everything that is in it ; It smudges easy but I wouldn't say that is a con because it looks great with or without smudges ; Some people had Blue-ray problems but mine worked just...

It's not the ASUS, it's Vista

I don't understand the problems that people are describing with the Blu-Ray (BD). After installing the software that came with my machine, I have had no problems watching BD movies on the N70SV-X1. As for reading AND writing... I have not tried writing...

WOWEE fast. I like the facial recognition software. That was pretty nice. It also has some copy and data protection software that I might use in college to make sure no one uses my computer. Most or at least some of the other users on here seem to...

Large (17.3" screen!) and heavy (17.3" screen!!!). If you don't like a large and heavier computer, don't get it. I don't mind hauling it around but that is just me ; Another con: It smudges like crazy. You just have to deal with it. It is in the...

A big/heavy laptop this could be good or bad depending on what you want

very high quality and fast runs games on high settings

battery life is bad comparing to other laptops, about 2 hours on battery saving, speakers are fairly quiet, the finish smudges easily

A bit disappointed

Nice screen, graphics, this computer has potential if you want to invest a lot of time fixing its flaws

Blu-ray didnt work, took a fair amount of confusion to get it operation. The updated software on the ASUS support website shows a dropdown list for 32-bit versions only, which for some reason they havent fixed (the 32-bit OS version listed on the...

Great deal overall

- The screen has a glossy finish The good far outweighs the bad on this. It's an incredibly hard deal to beat, and it's worth every penny.

Price, price, price: This is hands down one of the best deals for a laptop. The ratio of power to cost is rather high ; Plenty of power behind it; it can play TF2 and WoW at full settings and still maintain framerates of 50+ with other programs running...

It gets rather hot, but that's to be expected with most notebooks in this hardware category ; The left and right click function are on either side of a single button, and clicking is a bit loud ; Finish likes to pick up smudges and fingerprints (the...
