Asus Zenbook UX32Vd Review

Sexy Zenbook looks; lovely screen; lots of amenities at a competitive price

Wimpy GPU; despite Optimus, battery life isn’t exceptional; HDD rather than SSD

When Asus’s Zenbook UX31E debuted last year, it seemed to almost single-handedly put Ultrabooks on the map. Its intriguing mix of good looks, performance, and price convinced many a skeptic, us included, that PCs could compete with the likes of Apple’s...

Review Asus Zenbook UX32VD Ultrabook

Miracles happen. The first rumors about Asus' new, revised Zenboo

Attractive Design; Full-Size HDMI, VGA and LAN by Adapter; Service friendly thanks to large bottom plate; Backlit keyboard; Bright display with strong 1000:1 contrast; Outdoor capable thanks to bright, non-reflective display; Very stable viewing angles...

No Unibody; Spongy keyboard mounting; some software applications fail at supporting Windows' display scaling.; No SSD, just a conventional HDD with SSD cache; High case temperatures during full load; suboptimally positioned speakers

The Asus UX32VD competes with a number of Ultrabooks from other manufacturers. A representative list would be for example the Dell XPS 13, Sony's SVT13, Samsung's 530U, HP Folio 13 and many more. If a high quality display is a priority, the only...

ASUS ZenBook UX32VD Review

It might look like a MacBook Air from a distance, but the ASUS ZenBook UX32VD is a 14-inch Ultrabook running Windows 7 and packed with some surprising power.

Beautiful 1080p screen ; Nice keyboard ; Solid thin-and-light design ; Best-in-class gaming performance

Slow HDD + SSD cache ; Average battery life ; Adapter "dongles" are easy to lose

The newest ZENBOOK UX32VD is a generally impressive Ultrabook with plenty of great reasons why you should buy it … and at least one reason why you might want to pass. The beautiful 1080p IPS display is quite possibly the best screen on any current...

Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD-DB71

The Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD-DB71 adds a speedy 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce graphics to the ultrabook formula. What Asus has wrought is the thinnest and lightest 1080p HD power system on the market. It's the ultrabook to...

Brilliant 1080p screen in a 13.3 inch ultrabook. Discrete 3D graphics. Strong multimedia performance. Full sized HDMI port. Three USB 3.0 ports in an ultrabook. Dual band 802.11 a/b/g/n 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi

Text can be tiny unless scaled up. Middling battery life. Only 30-day trial to McAfee Internet Security

ASUS Zenbook Prime UX32VD

The ASUS Zenbook Prime UX32VD combines the best Ultrabook display with Nvidia graphics for extra gaming muscle.

The $1,299 ASUS Zenbook Prime UX32VD is sort of a niche Ultrabook for those not satisfied with Intel's graphics performance, and on that basis it succeeds. You get the same sweet 1080p IPS screen and rich Bang & Olufsen speakers as the UX31A, and...

ASUS Zenbook Prime UX32VD-DB71

You can't blame ASUS for wanting to diversify its Ultrabook lineup. Not when it has an awesome full HD screen that's even better than the MacBook Air's. For the UX32VD, ASUS added discrete Nvidia graphics to this glorious display. Yes, this a 3.2-pound...

Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD Ultrabook Review

super-slim ultrabooks, gaming and multimedia are often the weakest links. Most ultrabooks have Intel integrated graphics that aren't designed to take on graphics-intensive games. Storage space, graphics processing, and display quality can be key areas...

Performance Summary: The Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD is, as ultrabooks go, a strong multimedia system. Thanks to the discrete Nvidia graphics with Optimus, the UX32VD puts standard ultrabooks and their integrated graphics to shame the moment you fire up...

Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD-DB71

Industry pundits say Intel's ultrabook push has been hampered by some models' high prices—that ultrabooks won't catch on, let alone reach Intel's stated goal of 40 percent of all laptop sales, until there are more affordable entries like Lenovo's $799...

Terrific 1080p screen ; Fast performance, with Core i7 CPU and discrete graphics ; Three USB 3.0 ports ; VGA, HDMI, and (via USB) Ethernet support ; Backlit keyboard

Onscreen text can be tiny unless zoomed in ; Minimal backlight bleed ; Mediocre battery life

Across-the-board improvements to last year's model—from a fast CPU and discrete graphics to a backlit keyboard and the best screen in its class—make Asus' new ultrabook well worth its $1,299 price.

Asus ZenBook UX32VD

The UX32VD is a decent attempt at an all-rounder ultrabook, though its battery life is uninspiring and it doesn't live up to its full potential.

24GB SSD cache + 500GB storage is a flexible solution ; Backlit keyboard ; Three USB 3.0 ports ; Matte screen ; Decent sound for a laptop

Weak battery life ; Higher-resolution model hard to find ; GeForce 620M is limited

The UX32VD is a decent attempt at an all-rounder ultrabook, though its battery life is uninspiring, and unless you can find the higher-resolution version, do some GPU overclocking and plan to do some home upgrades, it doesn't quite live up to its...

Beautiful little machine

A very nice travel sleeve is included with the laptop -- but with no compartment for the power adapter. The laptop holds a charge for a long time, but ... still ... would have been nice to keep the cords with it.

This is a beautiful balance of power, weight, and compactness

Not enough memory (immediately upgraded to 10GB by replacing the 2GB stick factory installed with Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM -- N82E16820148734 -- The other 2GB of RAM is on-board and cannot be upgraded). Tried ... really really really tried ... to...
