Review Asus VivoBook S200E Subnotebook

 

No fear of contact. There is a plethora of inexpensive subnoteboo

High quality chassis; Very decent input devices; Touchscreen; Low noise; Compact power adapter

Throttling when running games and apps; Dark display; Limited expandability; No Bluetooth

Conceptually similar (but significantly more expensive) is the Dell XPS 12 Convertible. Alternatives without a touchscreen are subnotebooks like the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E135, the Acer Aspire One 756, or the Sony Vaio SVE-1111M1E/P.

Asus VivoBook S200E review

 

The 11in VivoBook S200E certainly doesn't look like a budget laptop – in fact its brushed metal finish and slim, lightweight design could give Apple's far more expensive MacBook Air a run for its money.

Our only real complaint about the S200E is the annoyingly reflective screen. Performance and battery life are respectable rather than outstanding, but the S200E offers an attractive, lightweight design and build quality that are rarely seen in laptops...

This VivoBook is more than an exercise in nostalgia, though. The touch-sensitive screen means that the S200E can use the Metro interface of Windows 8.

Finally months after its release I receive a small touch notebook designed for Windows 8. While the 11inch screen may be a little small for some the touch features work well as you will naturally sit with the screen well within reach.
