Asus U31JG

The Asus U31JG, designed for urban professionals on the move, boasts a stylish brushed-aluminum finish that coats the lid and wraps around the black plastic keyboard. It's not just a fashion statement either: The aluminum trim reinforces the plastic...

Discrete graphics card ; Lightweight, with great battery life

Display has poor viewing angles and too much glare ; Mediocre keyboard and touchpad

The U31JG is ideal for getting work done on the road, but movie and music buffs should look elsewhere.

The 13-inch ASUS U31JG-A1 offers graphics muscle and long battery life in a thin and light design, but it's not quite the best notebook in its class.

The ASUS U31JG-A1 doesn't break a lot of new ground. It's just a solid thin-and-light notebook that provides a welcome one-two punch of graphics performance and long battery life. We just wish ASUS could take the flex out of its keyboards. In this...

ASUS U31JG-A1 Review

The ASUS U31JG packs an Intel Core i3 processor, Nvidia graphics with Optimus technology and almost eight hours of battery life into a thin and light 13.3-inch chassis weighing less than four pounds. What's not to like? Read our review.

Thin and light ; 7+ hours of battery life ; Good performance

Too much keyboard flex ; Poor speakers ; MSRP too high

Asus U31JG-A1

The Asus U31JG-A1 ($814.99 street) ultraportable laptop has lightweight plastic and aluminum construction, long-lasting 8 hour battery, and features like Bluetooth that adds icing to the cake. But the U31JG-A1 suffers from a glitchy trackpad—a problem...

Aluminum construction is light and sturdy. Slim portable design. Backlit keyboard. 8 hour battery life. Bluetooth connectivity. Discrete graphics

Trackpad is almost unusable. No optical drive

The Asus U31JG-A1 is a slim little laptop that lasts all day on one charge. Features like Bluetooth and battery-life are great, but a flawed trackpad mars the overall package.

Asus U31JG-A1

In tech as in life, timing is everything, and that's never more true than in the days and weeks following the launch of a line of new processors. Everything that comes out around the same time featuring the older technology is at a disadvantage, and in...

Lengthy battery life ; Sturdy, stylish chassis ; Two-year warranty

Some design quibbles ; Outdated processor ; No backlit keyboard ; No USB 3.0 ports

This machine is a serviceable thin-and-light laptop, but with Sandy Bridge-based models flooding the scene, it's hard recommending this model, which is based on an older processor.

Great Computer, Horrible Tech Help!

I love everything about the computer itself. The battery lasts forever and everything operates very quickly and smoothly. The only negative would be that one of the reasons I bought the product was for the free year of accidental warranty is a huge...

Battery lasts forever and everything operates very quickly and smoothly ; Comfortable

Screen quality not the best

great 13 inch laptop

A great windows 13 inch laptop that took care of cpu power, gpu, and battery. With normal usage, it can reach 6+ hours easy. I even put Ubuntu linux on it. But due to the lack of support of Linux on optimus, the battery life is a bit short , but still...

relative good cpu ; good graphic card ; excellent battery life ; very light weight

plastic keyboard is a bit cheap. But I can live with it

Poor Service

We have another ASUS notebook and tablet, as they were a brand that I previously thought was high quality. Having a mechanical issue within the first few weeks is bad enough, but their repair service is absolutely the worst. I will not purchase this...

Service terrible - fan needed to be replaced after 5 weeks of use. ASUS sent us a postage paid label, which sounded great until we found it took a week to get to them ; In spite of having an RMA # we can never access updates on their on-line system....
