ASUS U36J Notebook - Sleek, Sexy and a Wee Bit Pricey

ASUS has been churning out some good netbooks and laptops. And today, we have the U36J Notebook for a review, which boasts of a dual-core Intel i5 processor clocking in at 2.66 GHz. ASUS also claims that this is a rather slim and sleek notebook with...

ASUS has priced the U36J at Rs. 56,699 which certainly is on the expensive side. If you're not too bothered about weight and wouldn't mind a slightly lower-performing notebook, you can go for the ASUS K42JA. Somehow, if you still seem to be uncovinced...

An ultraportable alternative offering great value for money

Good performance ; Usability ; Connectivity ; Battery life

Graphics power ; Ugly protruding hinges

Asus U36J review

Asus impressed us with its affordable ultraportable U36J laptop. The features sets are great and it's slinky enough to pop in to your manbag but an old generation processor only provided limited performance

Chiclet keyboard ; Great screen ; Budget price

Integrated graphics ; Ageing processor ; HD playback

Performance isn’t as strong as we hoped, but the U36J comes at a good price considering how slim and light it is. We were impressed by the strong range of features, including plenty of storage space for your media collection.

There's not much wrong with the keyboard, screen, touchpad and port layout but they don't really shine either

The Asus U36J is an excellent compromise between power and portability - meaning that it doesn't actually compromise either. There are things to wish for - from a newer processor to a more impressive screen - but they won't stop this being a great...

Asus U36J review

The Asus U36J ultraportable laptop comes in at an appealing £699.

The Asus offers good value with plenty of Windows and graphics power, a fingerprint reader and an ExpressGate preboot environment. The screen isn't great for all environments, however.
