Asus U46E-BAL5

The 14-inch widescreen and its 1,366-by-768 resolution can be found in most mainstream configurations, but it's bright, with very good viewing angles. The Samsung QX411-W01 uses a glass-covered screen, which liven up photos and movies with...

Stand-out metallic design. Sweet deal of a price. 750GB hard drive. Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM are a powerful combination. WiDi 2.0 and WiMAX. USB 3.0 port. Very good battery life

Lacks a discrete graphics chip

While other mainstream laptops are putting in boilerplate parts, the Asus U46E-BAL5 raises the bar with excellent processing power and a glut of cutting-edge features.

Asus U46E-BAL6

Although the 14-inch widescreen has a boilerplate 1,366-by-768 resolution, it's bright and has wide viewing angles. The Samsung QX411-W01UB, however, uses a glass-covered screen, which adds pop to photos and movies. The U46E-BAL6 has a solid...

Extremely powerful quad core processor. 8GB of memory. Stand-out metallic design. 750GB hard drive is the largest. WiDi 2.0 and WiMAX wireless technologies built-in. USB 3.0 port on board. Very good battery life

Lacks a discrete graphics chip

The Asus U46E-BAL6 is a processing goliath, thanks to its quad-core processor, and it's only meant for those who abuse their laptops with high-end video and photo editing packages. No backlit keyboard. The Asus U46E-BAL6 is a mainstream laptop that...

randomly shut off

I got this model for college but whenever I tried to watch Netflix or load ANYTHING the entire laptop would shut off. It got worse every time I turned it back on. I sent it back

size, weight, overall cosmetic quality

speakers suck, clicks on the mousepad are really loud

Junk screen design

Won't buy another ASUS or spend the money for an extended warrenty with NewEgg again.

Good Specs for price

Screen bezel broke no longer opens an closes like a laptop should. Never left my desk. ASUS made a poor design. Bought extended warrenty and they say it must have been physically abused so not covered

Don't buy refubrished one, just buy a new one, the laptop is great.

A fairly great laptop for its spec

Bought refurbished one, speaker doesn't work, touch pad not responding most of the time ; I think it doesn't worth buying a refurbished one. always comes with some issues

Great value

Great powerful laptop for the money. Only criticism is the speakers only on one side and low volume which is improved with updated driver. Also the touch pad is way over sensitive and I removed driver and found another which allowed me to disable it.

Avoid NewEgg. Period.

Asus was helpful and it seems that their products are high quality. NewEgg has severely misrepresented Asus by sending me such a horrible product. Just order from Asus, do not trust NewEgg as they are a 3rd party (and frankly awful) seller.

Good laptop when it actually functions

Everything. This is not Asus' fault. NewEgg shipped me a laptop that doesn't work and will not refund, only replace. Now i have to ship it back and they won't ship a new one until they receive it. If the 2nd one works it will be 2to 3 weeks after...

Near total lemon

Hey, Newegg is nice enough, though, and it's ASUS, so their customer service is pretty good.

The computer itself (mostly) works well

EVERY other component of this is bad. The touchscreen does not have multitouch, but is so sensitive that you will never successfully type anything without moving your cursor. Ever. The speakers are so quiet as to be useless. The frame of the screen is...

Fantastic for the money

Would be nice if the keyboard was backlit, and the speakers could be better...

Got my laptop today for work, it looks great and feels great. The keyboard is very easy to type on as well. It's very fast for under a grand, i don't think there is a laptop out there that'll beat it for the price. Doesn't seem to get hot after an hour...

It's a little heavy, and the grooves in the palm rest will trap dirt and harder to clean. But other that, no complains here

Refurbished = Certified. So, where's the Quality?

Overall good quality, but should be more thorough. Make sure the Trackpad has full functionality and specify any model details such as if the speaker system is on one side rendering the sound as Mono. Can't wait to get a clean install of...

Stylish ; Runs great ; Webcam works properly ; Proper Speed, RAM and HDD as specified ; Screen has no flaws ; HDMI port works

The LEFT & RIGHT speakers are both on the same side, on the right. It's one L & R speaker module. Technically this laptop has mono ; 2W speakers are shameful. Get some headsets ; Trackpad software is incorrect, it is NOT Synaptics. You must download...
