Disappointed from day one. Will never buy an ASUS again

By compdependent (cnet.com) Read the full review

All and all I have been disappointed with this laptop. I wish I had returned it after receiving it, but I didn't have time to deal with the issues and figured they'd be easily fixed. I was wrong.

quick delivery

poor battery life ; heavy given screen size ; constant freezing ; poor customer service - only options: "reinstall windows" or mail in laptop for servicing ; repaired" laptop returned with new problems

Great for college. Well rounded and capable.

By Branstopher (cnet.com) Read the full review

I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. Especially as it is becoming more affordable and performs as well as any other laptop in it's bracket.

Battery life is great, no concern there ; Graphics card does it's job running games. (on Low settings mind you) ; TF2, L4D2, Portal1/2, Fallout 3 and NV, Audiosurf, etc ; Processor overclocks itself up nearer 2 gHz and does perfect for multitasking ;

Fingerprint magnet. ;')

A wonderful laptop! Just not for neat freaks.

By Fiorina161 (cnet.com) Read the full review

I love this laptop and am very glad that I bought it.

Having several power options to choose from is fantastic. If I squeeze everything down to its bare minimum. I can get almost 12 hours out of the battery. The graphics and Nvidia card are great. The keyboard is easy to get around as well

The keyboard is a bit flexy. I don't know if it would have been possible to add a few more supports below the keyboard grid. The gloss surface can drive a neat freak nuts. I detail I won't forget for my next laptop

Asus UL50VT-RBBBK05

By Scott Stein (cnet.com)

The Asus UL50VT is, in many ways, a full-fledged laptop with a large 15.6-inch screen, a DVD/CD burner, and a dedicated gaming graphics chip from Nvidia. At the same time, this Asus has an ultralow-voltage Core 2 Duo processor running the show, a CPU...

Nvidia switchable graphics; thin frame; good battery life

Underpowered processor for the price

With switchable Nvidia graphics and a thin design, the Asus UL50VT-RBBBK05 sacrifices power for longer battery life, while still managing to be a gaming-capable notebook. For its price, though, you could buy a laptop with a faster Core i3 CPU.

ASUS UL50Vf Review

By Jerry Jackson (NotebookReview.com)

The new ASUS UL50Vf is an update to the popular 15-inch UL50Vt and offers the all-new Nvidia Optimus switchable graphics. Why are we reviewing this modest update? Because Optimus is honestly the first switchable graphics solution that works like it should

Great switchable graphics ; Excellent battery life ; Reasonable performance

Weak build quality ; Low-res screen ; A little expensive

Nvidia Optimus is a fantastic technology that we're happy to see, but we'd really like to see this technology inside a more impressive laptop. If you're looking for a 15-inch notebook that gives you great battery life but also delivers the performance...

Just be aware there are other notebooks with similar performance available for less money

Seamless switchable graphics, Thin and light design for 15.6-inch notebook, Long battery life, Can easily handle mainstream games

Fingerprint smudge magnet, Mushy single mouse button, Could use more speaker volume

Overall, the UL50VF ran cool. After playing a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, we measured temperatures of 93, 98, and 100 degrees Fahrenheit when we took the temperature of the touchpad, the space between the G and H keys, and the underside,...

All of these temperatures were slightly warmer than usual, but the notebook didn't cause discomfort when it was sitting on our lap

Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05

By (cnet.com)

Very thin; solid design; good battery life

Slower than a typical Core 2 Duo laptop; no Bluetooth

The design and portability of the Asus UL50AG make it one of the slickest 15.6-inch DVD-drive-equipped laptops we've seen, but an ultralow-voltage processor compromises its computing power.

Asus UL50VF-A1

By (pcmag.com)

Despite slower processor speeds, the UL50VF-A1 has another weapon in its arsenal: It can leverage the power of a GeForce G210M graphics card and Nvidia's newest technology called Optimus. In fact, the UL50VF-A1 comes with two graphics solutions:...

Two GPUs. Nvidia Optimus can seamlessly switch between the two GPUs. Excellent battery life. Full size keyboard and numeric keypad. Sleek looks. Lightweight

Processor is sluggish for a 15-inch system. Mouse buttons scratches easily and are tough to press

The Asus UL50VF-A1 is a gorgeous 15-inch laptop runs on a slower-than-average processor, but it can harness the strengths of two graphics cards and a new Nvidia technology

Asus UL50Vf

By Todd Haselton (computershopper.com)

The $849 UL50Vf offers solid graphics performance for midrange gamers. The standout part of this laptop, though: Nvidia's Optimus technology, which automatically balances graphics speed and battery life.

ASUS UL50Vf Notebook Review - NVIDIA Optimus Takes the Stage

By Nathan Kirsch (legitreviews.com)

Award: INNOVATION AWARD

The ASUS UL50Vf notebook is a refresh of the popular UL50Vt. Nearly the only difference between these two models is the adoption of NVIDIA's Optimus Technology which allows for automatic graphics switching technology versus user-initiated toggling....

For the seamless use of discrete NVIDIA graphics, the integration of NVIDIA Optimus in the ASUS UL50Vf creates a perfect match for a notebook and users by only using discrete graphics performance when they need it.

Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05 Laptop

By wubayou (devhardware.com)

If you are in the market for a thin and light laptop but do not want to encounter the typical obstacles with such a design (a smaller screen and no optical drive), then take a look at the Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05. The UL50AG is a mainstream 15-inch laptop...

The result is decent performance, especially with respect to other thin-and-lights or netbooks; still, it's not as impressive as other laptops in the 15-inch size range. Many will probably be willing to make that sacrifice, however, as the UL50AG does...

s two processing cores and the 4 GB of RAM. The laptop also handles normal everyday computing tasks, and light multimedia with some gaming as well. Just do not expect a blazing-fast system that will knock your socks off
